Stayed in Japfu hotel for one night during my business travel to Kohima in July 2017. Nice property on little hill top. Neat and clean rooms and warm welcoming staff. Decent food and service. No AC or Fans in the room as not required due to pleasant weather in Kohima. But I needed a pedestral fan which was promptly provided hotel. Over all nice feeling.
I have been to Kohima quite a few times, and at least twice before I have stayed at Hotel Japfu, on a small hillock within the hilly Kohima. This time again, it was a pleasant experience. The Hotel went beyond its regular brief to help our staff to set up an uninterrupted video conference facility; this allowed our colleagues from Bengaluru to participate in the proceedings of the high level committee meeting for two days. Overall very good experience...
It is on the small hill . As the capital of Nagaland is on the Top of hill . This is very good to stay - the rooms are having electric heaters. Good Cafeteria , good toilets . Staff is also good. good service . Good Parking area. Driving skill is always required in Kohima.
I stayed last night at this hotel as part of a group, and we chose this place because of the carparking facilities that they had for our vehicles. The whole place is massive with a huge reception area which was rather staid. However, the staff were very friendly and helpful there and the rooms adequately comfortable for our overnight stay. There's hot water from an in-room geyser and a TV with all channels. The whole place could do with a major remodernisation but due to its size that would be a major task. The restaurant is disappointing. No atmosphere and no buffet. The Nagaland pork I ordered was just large chunks of spicy fat in a bowl. Horrible! Breakfast was served very slowly but was OK. The staff are very nice at this place though, so that makes up for a lot of the shortfalls. Overall a comfortable, clean and safe, but unremarkable place for an overnight stay in Kohima.
I had visited Kohima on an official visit a few years ago. My stay arrangement was made in Hotel Japfu, PR Hill, Kohima-797001. I reached in the night so I could not see the exterior of the hotel. I was taken to the room, which was quite spacious. The beds were cozy and I had a good sleep. Got up in the morning and realised that the Sun rises quite early compared to Delhi. Had breakfast meeting with State officials. Found food quite good, perhaps because I was a bit hungry at that time. The whole day I spent in visits and when I came back to the hotel around 5 pm, it was already getting dark. In Kohima roads had no traffic after 5 pm, only a few people were seen as Sun sets quite early in Kohima.
I had ordered for dinner in my room. The food was good but lacked Delhi taste. The minus point was their room service, which was aweful and TV channels. But again the bed was cozy and I had a very good sleep.
Overall, I will rate this hotel as average.
