Chartres Hotel
traveler2001074on 02/07/2017 21:40This hotel has been renovated and the rooms are very nice. The decor is tasteful, rather than fussy. The rooms are very comfortable. The staff was exceptionally helpful. The only negatives were inconvenient parking (across the street at the railway station) AND that the hotel IS across the street from the railway station which is not the most scenic part of town.

Dutton-Whiteon 19/06/2017 20:58We arrived in Chartres at 9.00 p.m by train and the hotel is right by the railway station.
No booking we went to reception and found a room a junior suite.
Great room, Art Deco influence throughout the hotel and in the room.
Beautiful bed, chairs and decor, especially the details like door handles that resembled car mascots from the 1920's.
But lacked details for the guests like no tea making facilities, strange layout in the bathroom , bad shower mat, no where to put the towels when used, little things that had you fussing around.
I'm not being picky here, just lack of consideration by the designers. They should stay in their design overnight do a test then they will see what is wrong.
I am a designer and have designed hotel rooms, l always did a test run before the design was completed, worked every time.
Charmed in Chartres - Excellent!
WinchesterCathedralon 08/05/2017 23:31This hotel is a little gem. Centrally located - close to the station and very close to the centre of town (5 minutes from the cathedral) for the price I do not think you can do better.
I think its best to say that the hotel is channeling the art deco era rather than being an art deco hotel and generally it works well. The room was comfortable and for a French hotel, large. The bed was comfortable and clean. The Wifi worked well. What more could you ask for.
Staff were friendly and courteous and were happy to offer dining and visit options. Great value for money. Please make sure you walk the lumiere route which is marked by blue lights in the pavement after 10 PM. It is just a great experience. Chartres Cathedral for me, the best gothic cathedral in the world.
Art deco
Neil Fon 11/04/2017 14:08We found this hotel thru Michelin guide where it's described somewhat optimistically as having Art Deco decorations. There are indeed modern attempts to reproduce the look but not enough to go out your way. Breakfast was a disaster with one poor woman servicing all the tables. Clearing our table with her hand she swept the crumbs onto the floor. Laying our place she held my knife by the blade placing it in front of me. So much for Hygiene and class.
Convenient, clean, older hotel.
Tara Ron 28/03/2017 18:27The location is fabulous! Almost across the street from the train station, but quiet and friendly. The rooms are older and a bit dated, but very comfortable with well kept beds and linens. The hotel staff is tremendously helpful and nice. I would stay again.
