What People are saying

Very Special Hotel

Fornovoon 13/09/2017 03:03

Below is the mundane recap of all the details that we loved about Hotel La Torre. But the most important thing is that this is an extremely well-managed 4-star hotel that somehow has the charm, warmth and heart of an earlier era. All the people you'll deal with, from early emails to the hotel (and they respond quickly), to check-in, to the staff at dinner time... all of them have your well-being, comfort and happiness in mind. They make you feel welcome. They want you to have the best vacation you can. And they seem happy to be doing it. You will feel immediately at home - some of it comes from the physical comfort of the plant but the rest is from the staff. It is unique. You could come here and stay by yourself for a month and not feel lonely.

OK, all of the positives mentioned in earlier reviews are accurate. Some of the things we noted:

*Large, comfortable rooms that included a good mattress, perfect bedding, slippers and a robe, plenty of storage, a safe, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, and a big bathroom with good shower. Special mention must be made of the clever door to the terrace. If you turn the handle all the way the door opens; if you turn the handle half-way, the top opens to make it a window. It was lovely to sleep at night with the cool air entering from the top.

*Breakfast that varied every day and offered sweet and savory choices plus yogurts and fruit. They also offered eggs freshly made. Plus (and it's a big one!), they have coffee available as long as they're in the kitchen. So if you need a cup as soon as you awake, don't worry that there is no coffee maker in the room.

*The position of the hotel is perfect, with spacious views of the glorious Dolomites. Padola is an enchanting small town with a piazza, a beautiful church, shops to buy water and mementos, a pasticceria, post office - even a hardware store! The hotel is a short walk to the ski lift which, in 12 minutes, takes you to the top of the mountain where there is a "rifugio" where you should have a drink or lunch.

*The food is great! We opted for the meal plan (breakfast and dinner), something I had never done. Each dinner offered several choices of appetizer, main course and dessert. We all loved each dish, with the only complaint being that we ate too much. Wine list is excellent. (This is the type of place where if you don't finish the bottle, they place it on your table the next night. We never had that happen though!)

We thank all the gracious people at La Torre, especially Federica who helped me find my grandmother's house in a nearby town. I can't wait to return!

Lovely stay

We stayed here for 4 nights with our 2 grown up sons to have a few days skiing. The hotel staff were very welcoming and the modern style of the hotel was very well done with our rooms being beautifully positioned with balconies overlooking the slopes. Lovely bathrooms and well equipped rooms. Spa was excellent with beautiful views.
Breakfast was just right, with delicious pastries and cooked eggs if required. Padola is only a little place with limited skiing but it is very pretty and friendly. We first brought our kids here when they were 5 yrs old and I would highly recommend it as somewhere for little ones to learn to ski. The mountain food is wonderful.... Dinner in the hotel on our last nit was delicious and a good wine list was available.
Altogether a lovely place to stay,
Surrounding areas offer more varied skiing.

Couldn't have asked for more

We booked this with another family last minute, as a short getaway trip to Sappada. Since most of those hotels were booked already, this one had the best reviews for the price- and it did not disappoint! The staff was friendly and accommodating, and upon our request we had 2 pack-and-plays set up in the room along with a sheet and toddler pillow. The rooms were modern, very clean, and had beautiful views of the mountains.

Since there were only a few other guests, we felt like we had the place to ourselves, and during dinner they set up 2 highchairs for the little ones, along with sippy cups, bowls, and kids silverware. They seemed very prepared to cater to families, which was greatly appreciated! The chef made separate meals for the kids, and then we adults felt stuffed after a delicious dinner. Breakfast the next morning was typical for Europe, but still delicious and gave us a variety of options to choose from. It was perfect fuel to be out in the snow most of the day.

Overall, I would definitely stay here again! It was quaint, new, modern, clean, and having staff that was willing to help out any way they could, was a wonderful cherry on top. Although it was about 30 minutes from the ski resort we were headed to, it was worth it.

Excellent

We had an excellent and pleasant stay. Wonderful architecture with an eye for detail. The view is marvelous. Surrounded by mountains, what more do you need to relax? Staff was welcoming and friendly. Chef Guglielmo has a magic hand when it comes to food. A tickle to your taste buds. We will definitely come back again.

Very nice hotel

Stayed 2 nights - friendly welcome with very helpful reception and restaurant staff.

The standard of equipment, fittings and fixtures, and cleanliness was exceptionally luxurious. In particular the bathrooms are a work of art. A beautiful place to spend time inside and out, views from the balcony to the mountains are superb.

Breakfasts and dinner were also delicious. Padola itself, while quite well located, is quiet in summer compared to eg Moos or Sexten, and as such potential for dining outside the hotel is limited, however there is a very good adjacent pizzeria. Not a criticism of the hotel though! Happy to recommend.
