Worst hotel during my month in Europe!!
Larry Kon 25/07/2017 20:54Expected better got worse! Terrible street that makes you feel unsafe. Sex shops, strip clubs, begging, etc. Amsterdam's Red Light area is a joy in comparison. Stairs to lobby are killer. Staff treats you like dumb tourists. Save your $$ go elsewhere, anywhere!
Very central location, great room.
Lotte Ron 10/07/2017 10:47After having read some of the reviews I was a bit hesitant to check in to this hotel. Honestly, you get what you pay for, and if people want to live in a posh area without the odd sexshop and workinggirls in the street you deffinately won't get it for 99€ a night. Also you will have to be further away from the city center, so
I arrived late (10pm) with my 12 year old daughter and we walked from the Ubahn station no problem. We stayed for two days and no one bothered us in the street ever. There are lots of Kebabshops and a Penny markt just across the street.
The room was a little small, however clean and comfy. The bathroom was clean, had plenty of towels and soap. The last star would have been given had the waterpressure in the shower been sufficient. I told the reception about this and I'm sure it will be looked into. The walls are thin and if someone talks loudly walking past you door you will hear them, however we could not hear the neighbours on either side of our room during our stay. I would not hesitate to book into this hotel again any time.
Don't forget you need to be able to climb stairs to stay in this hotel. However the receptionclerk helped me with the big suitcase up a flight of stairs to the lift.
Sky-rocket price for this "trainstation" hotel
Wissam Aon 11/05/2017 22:47Staff are friendly and helpful. Wifi is good.
Price of €99 for this hotel!?! Never again!
Bed matrass too soft. Stinky smell kept coming out of the shower's sink - had to keep the bathroom's window open all day and night. Elevator is at mid'floors. Expect to carry your luggage up 1 floor to reach the reception...
Grotty
Nigel mon 17/09/2016 18:50Booked as it was on the Hamburg tourist website, maybe they thought we were sex tourists due to the location near sex shops and cinemas. On arrival at the hotel after walking though probably one of the worst streets in Hamburg we were greeted by a tall flight of stairs which suitcases had to be carried up before getting to a lift and reception.
To use the room safe cost an extra 3 euros and the room had no kettle, tea or coffee and the bottle of water in the room has to be bought for another 2 euros.
No double bed for two people, only three single beds. Two single beds next to each other that could not even be made into a double bed. Door rattled every time another door opened or closed. Decoration of the room had seen better days. Shower was tiny.
However the room and bathroom were clean.
You get what you pay for.
ph1l5on 18/07/2016 10:56Our group was booked into the Hotel Lumen for the weekend and I had read the reviews of this hotel before we arrived so was aware that it sounded pretty bad. When the taxi dropped us outside the street looked pretty "interesting" and not what you would call Oxford St. There are lots of coffee shops and kebab houses. There isn't the sex shop next to this hotel but there is a fruit and veg man one side and a coffee shop the other.
The hotel was clean and well lit on arrival the guy behind he desk gave us our room keys and left us too it. the rooms had 3 beds a shower etc with clean towels and the usual bits and pieces. but for £50 a night what would you be expecting.
Breakfast was standard rolls, toast, eggs, ham, cheese, Tea/Coffee.
Saturday night would popped to the coffee shop downstairs as I said the area itself did look like a bad day in Bagdad but appearances can be deceptive. The shop owner was a nice guy and we had a laugh with him and the locals. There are working girls working the street but they cam in for some food at some point. We chatted with them and again it was all very pleasant.
At the end of the day if you are expecting Crowne Plaza hotel on the cheap this might not be for you. On the other hand if you want to get your head down for a few hours is perfect. Its close to the tube and easy to get around.
