What People are saying

Bare bones

Peter Bon 11/04/2017 07:40

This hotel, in spite of its relatively well appointed grounds and proximity to the airport, is a ripoff. The accommodation is bare bones, as in no refrigerator (just because they want you to buy their overpriced beer and bottled water - they would not provide water and the liquid from the tap is not drinkable) and barely working airconditioners and tvs. The staff speaks very limited English and is unhelpful. Various bugs make it into the rooms, I saw rat droppings on the window sills in the bathroom, there are no phones in the rooms so they cannot call you when you are picked up for a tour. Having said this, the hotel is convenient for trips to Tikal etc., there's a shopping mall next door, it's walking distance to Flores, there's plenty of hot water and the pressure is good, the bedsheets were immaculate and the rooms have balconies. There's a restaurant attached (I only tried their coffee which was really good), a mini lake beach and a kids' swimming pool, although I would not recommend anybody with very young kids stay there. Overall it's a mixed bag - you can do worse if you are looking to just spend the night somewhere while exploring the ruins. Beware super overpriced taxis to the airport which is 2km away but walking is an option under only desperate circumstances. The hotel is also convenient for trips to Mirrador since the chopper lands next to the parking lot.

Charged for drinking water

DenverSunshineon 25/02/2017 18:03

The property is nice and we were pleased with our room. Our big negative was the hotel charges guests for the bottled water in the rooms. It would have been better to charge a few more Q's (dollars) for the room and "hide" the water charge, but seeing it as a separate charge was insulting. At none of the other hotels we stayed at while we were in Guatemala were we charged for our water.

Discusting and Noisy!

I stayed here as part of a tour and am grateful we stayed only one night. My room had large ants crawling everywhere, a nightclub was blasting horrid music all night so no sleep was had, the restaurant on site served inedible overpriced food & poured chintzy glasses of bad wine, the shower had no door so water covered the floor after a shower and the grossest thing was that the entire grounds smelled like human feces. I am not kidding and everyone on the tour smelled the poo!!! I was glad to leave the filthy place very early the next morning.

Understaffed and bad costumer service.

Rodrigo Pon 04/07/2016 15:55

Although the hotel offers a great view of the lake and a short distance to the island of Flores this hotel lacks in many areas. First off, BAD costumer service. Even though my Expedia reservation clearly stated that the check in was at 2 pm the clerk at the front desk insisted it was at 3 pm. I showed her the reservation on the expedia app but she didn't care. She didn't even welcomed us to the pool area or a place to put our bags. We made ourselves into the pool area eventually. Even though our room was ready before 3 pm she made us wait until exactly 3:00 pm to give us the key. The hotel pool was small and dirty, the water was glossy. There seemed to be no supervisor or manager only clerks and bartenders. Our rooms were ok in size but they smelled horribly! The water smelled really bad in both our rooms. The next day we wanted to watch a soccer game in the pool area but the entire lobby and bar of the hotel was decorated and cleared for an event. They reluctantly gave us a table on the edge of the bar only because we insisted. Even though there was just us and another group in the bar the same clerk that wouldn't give us our room came and turned the wifi off, it seemed on purpose. To sum things up, the hotel seems nice in theory and on pictures but it is really not a pleasant experience to stay there. I recommend you find another hotel even if its further away from the island.

Beautiful lake view

AVSZ2013on 25/05/2016 02:23

The hotel is centrally located and has many details that make it nice and comfy. Its restaurant is right in front of the lake with nice breeze at all times. Food is very good and personnel is friendly and helpful.
