Good Stay - But needs Immediate attention

I went to stay at this hotel, during last week of July 2017,
to attend a wedding function, also every body suggested that this hotel is altogether a good option to go for, So i decided to book for 3n/4d stay at this property,
Location - absolutely perfect,centrally located,
Ambience - Reception area - nicely done ,
but,
Corridors - ceilings of corridors fill with seepage , stale smell,
Rooms spacious enough but not very well lit,
Washrooms - with broken walls, needs a lot of improvement, the faucets needs up liftment,
Restaurant - Dropped the idea to use it, No point ,
Room service - is not able to figure out how to serve, what to say,
Staff - Cordial ,but,
Before the guests re- enters in their rooms, your staff should be ready with the neat n clean rooms only, & not requesting to wait for 5 more minutes,
Food - Not so good in taste ( we ordered Chicken Biryani & Mutton Biryani - taste wise both are separate dishes, but I guess the chef during that time was tired n confused , so he served rice which tasted almost same , with only difference is of Chicken n Mutton addition,
Staff - Needs Immediate attention - for their service, as it will be difficult for them if any big hotel chain enters , this property will loose the battle,
My Verdict -
Being one of the best properties in Allahabad, it was known for its old charm, but now it is loosing its sheen,
I presume this property is under renovation, if yes then please finish your work asap, so to let the guests stay comfortably,
Location wise this property is very good, but only one point is not enough to hold back on to your guests,

Happens to be a good option but not now

I have stayed in this hotel quite some time right from the time when it was opened. Earlier it was a wonderfull experience in all aspect but as the years passed it is not so now. Current renovation is going on, wifi was not working. rooms does not look lively. Overall not value for money now.

Nice ambience with good spacious rooms. Liked the room service a lot, had ordered Khichdi before checking in, got it delivered at 12 in the midnight. Buffet breakfast was so-so. Some more items can be included.

Disgusting, filthy place

Room 205, assigned to us as part of a deluxe accommodation package with Webjet, was revolting. The lampshades were dirty and mouldy, the bathroom filthy, mothballs in the drains, walls dirty. There was a hole in the wall. In the restaurant the tablecloth was dirty, menu gritty, service so slow we left so can't comment on the food. The breakfast was tinned fruit, toast and not much else, slow service. Corridors were dirty and dingy. Other guests on our tour had a similar experience. Porterage was included and tipped extra by the group leader, however we still had to get our own bags from the corridor and the porter wanted a tip! The whole place needs scrubbing from top to bottom, nobody should be made to stay here in the meantime.

There must be a better place to stay

My wife and I spent one night at hotel as part of a Webjet tour package.
There were only three positives for this property - location, air-conditioning and free wi-fi.
In relation to the room allocated to us, it was old, felt dirty, the refrigerator had water in the bottom of it, the bathroom door looked liked it had been kicked in and would not stay open, moth balls were in the wash basin, shower and floor drainage outlet and the smell went through the whole room. The shower door was grubby, the shower itself only just worked. It was a shower that had about 8 outlet options and only one worked. All the others were blocked by minerals that would have been in the water. The shower head, if you touched it fell out.
My wife had a cold shower at 9.30pm. We opened the hot water taps in the shower and wash basin and ran it for 15 minutes - still no hot water. An hour later when I showered, it was luke warm. The next morning, the hot water was very hot!

The bed - the softest bed we have tried to sleep in. It 'Véd" in the middle where most of your body weight was. Room not sound proofed as you could hear dogs fighting in the night.
Breakfast had limited options.

Other travelers in our group had similar and some had better experiences than us!
