Quiet area, friendly staff
Charles Don 28/05/2015 10:31The hotel is situated in quiet area with lots of interesting restaurants in the vicinity, not far from the centre of the town. It appears to be a family owned hotel, where all the members are helpful and accomodating.
A bit expensive
MexicoMrobjectiveon 09/08/2014 13:32Small hotel, barely in walking distance to the city center. Friendly and helpful staff. Great variety to chose from the breakfast buffet and the garden terrace is kind of cosy. Rooms are simple, furniture out dated like from the 70ies and the mattress is too soft. Bathroom very small and flooded after using the shower. Balcony useful for smokers at best. It is a converted apartment building and as such too expensive.
A very pleasant experience
Goran Pon 20/09/2013 09:14Choosing this hotel was based on the experience of former colleagues and location (close to the company where I work). Regardless of the late arrival (22:00) the host/owner welcomed us and advised of the closest places where you can eat something. One evening we had dinner in the hotel (it is possible to have with an announcement) and the food was really excellent. The hospitality is also on a high level (the whole family is involved in the business provide a grand touch of intimacy). Looks hotel does not stand out, but everything is functional and clean, and due to price and position (15min from the old part of the city / center / 10min central train station on foot) and my company to me the best choice among several hotels in Mainz where I stayed before.
Old good style family run hotel
George Son 27/02/2013 12:45I got used to stay in Mainz every year during a Frankfurt fair I visit...Quiet nice city with several excellent Weinstube's (Wine bars with comfort food) !
I had never stayed at the Moguntia, but my usual places were either already fully booked, or had increased their prices beyond reason.
i didn't know what to expect exactly from the few reviews I read. I had the nice surprise of meeting the owner upon a seamless check-in and I had a good impression right away. The hotel looks old-fashioned and you fear that the room will be rundown (That would be the case in a city like Paris) but it's actually very well maintained with all the essentials : Good temperature in the room, double glazing window with darkening shutters, comfortable bed, excellent pressure in the shower, clean floor carpet...Nothing fancy but excellent value !
And the real bonuses are the excellent breakfast and the fantastic discreet hospitality of the whole family managing the hotel. A traditional "hotelier" business that needs to be supported.
Only one minus : no wifi in the rooms, only in the breakfast room/lobby
Quiet & accessible location
koalajolon 31/10/2012 07:56Stayed 1 night at Hotel Moguntia. We arrived late around 10pm and the auto key-collection was a breeze after we input the expected codes. Management was friendly and breakfast spread reasonably good. Due to its accessibility (located within walking distance to train station as well as shuttle bus stop for bus to Frankfurt-Hahn airport), it would offer a good option for any traveller that need an interim stay while commuting between Frankfurt airport and Frankfurt-Hahn airport.
