Not the usual Kimpton customer service
MissTrixieSon 23/08/2017 07:02I chose this hotel because some of our favorite hotels are Kimpton hotels. The decor and amenities were top flight as I would expect. However, I was somewhat disappointed in our stay. First of all, when I made the reservation online, I stated that I was allergic to feathers and down and requested that bedding of that sort be removed. I called the hotel several hours after I had made the reservation to state that our arrival would be delayed but that we still required a room. I also reminded them about my request for feather and down bedding removal since we would be arriving quite late and did not want to have to wait for housekeeping at that late hour. The hotel attendant assured me that it would be taken care of.
When we arrived at midnight after a grueling 12-hour drive, we were informed that our room had been given to another guest. When I questioned the gentleman at the front desk about the room change, he was rather curt with me stating that this was actually an upgrade (which may have been the case but it had two double beds, not a queen bed, as I had requested). When we checked into our room, there was water all over the bathroom floor, and there were down pillows and duvets on the beds. We were so tired, we moved the bedding to the other side of the room instead of notifying housekeeping and having to wait while the problem was dealt with. As it was, I had difficulty breathing because of the down.
I'm not going to hold this unfortunate incident against Kimpton hotels, but the Monaco might do well to provide better customer service in the future.
Perfect location, nice decor
Rebecca Lon 22/08/2017 01:561st time in Salt Lake City and this was a perfect spot in downtown. Close to dining, pubs and shops. Also within walking distance , was the temple which is impressive. The decor is nice, but the room we stayed in was small. We were only in for an overnight so that wasn't tragic, but wished we had a view of the city instead of someone's office right there. Had to make sure drapes were closed. The restaurant on property was decent for breakfast and competitively priced. I would stay here again.
Great location
JunctionGirlon 20/08/2017 19:56We stayed here and went to see Book of Mormon...right across street! Dog friendly and have a happy hour from 5 to 6. Had a speciality cocktail and wine, yummy! Room spacious , clean and comfy. Mall right down street as is the Temple.
Home away from Home
SunValleyneilon 20/08/2017 00:02I recently opened a restaurant in downtown SLC kitty corner to the Monaco. It's called Mollie&Ollie. Must have stayed at the Monaco 15 times over the course of the project build out.
Don't have a dog but it was so nice& relaxing to come home every night and have the feeling of almost being in a home... Despite the fact that they allow dogs-the rooms were immaculately clean-spotless. They were spacious and comfortable. To top it off we became friends with some of the staff which is a class group of people. Hands down the best Boutique Hotel in the city--and certainly the most reasonable....

WorldTraveler50226on 17/08/2017 15:22This is my go to hotel when in SLC. The staff are friendly and the rooms are nice. It is in a terrific location in downtown Salt Lake. We had breakfast at their restaurant and it was great. Good food and terrific service.
