Overall, a good experience at the hotel considering a budget Hotel.
Pallab Don 25/01/2017 15:12Stayed for one night in the hotel.
Pro:
1. Room arrangements and standards are okay.
2. Nice swimming pool, although being winter, not able to use it. But its open for all as per timings.
3. Walking distance from Brahma Mandir OR Pushkar lake.
4. Make use of local transportation to travel. Requires a bit of waiting sometimes to get the transportation.
5. Can be easily located being nearest to Brahma Mandir.
6. Food quality is also good.
Cons:
1. Do not expect any transportation help. Being at the footstep of Brahma Mandir, no vehicles allowed on the road in front of Hotel.
2. Avoid travelling in winter. No room heaters despite chilled environment.
Rude staff, terrible stay! Avoid!
Christian Hon 08/11/2016 14:48When we arrived at Nav Ratan Palace, we weren't made welcome at all. The man behind the reception desk and his helper were so rude and very unhelpful. They wouldn't even look us in the eye. They just looked like they really hated there job.
The room was average, of course its a budget hotel so its nothing spectacular but we didn't mind, however there was no hot water, hairs on the floor and unfortunately rat (or mouse?) poo, too.
The main downside to this hotel is that it is right on the main bazar so it's the nosiest place to be in Pushkar (it was just a week before the camel fair started). The noise from the busy street, the rikshaws, the motorcycles and the hussle and bussle from outside keeps you up until 12am and starts again at around 6am and of course during the night you have the odd fire work going off, someone having an argument or the street dogs fighting.
Me and my partner booked 3 nights here, but after the first night I really couldn't take the noise anymore. So we decided to check out early.
My partner checked on booking.com to see the cancellation policy and if what we would be charged. Policies said, as we were checking out before 12pm, we would only be charged for the first night.
My partner went to the reception desk around 9am to inform the receptionist (whom was the manager, possibly even owner) to our situation. The receptionist was extremely rude to my partner. At 11am we both checked out and he made it such a hassle for us. He wanted to charge us an extra 1,000INR for no reason at all and said that he was loosing his commission from booking.com and he didn't want to pay it (understandable, but not our problem). After 20 minutes of him raising his voice and loosing his temper at us, I decided to call booking.com so that they could explain to him that we didn't need to pay the 1,000INR. In the end booking.com thankfully sorted out the issue and we only paid for the night we stayed (as the cancellation policy said on booking.com).
The guy behind the reception desk was super pissed off and told us we weren't nice because he was loosing commission and he let us use his cell phone to call booking.com. We left him with an extra 50INR for letting us use his phone.
As advice to the hotel: Please change your cancellation policy to make things clear in the first place.
Average accomodation
stardust055on 07/11/2016 16:12This place has a nice pool and garden retreat and is very close to the bazaars. Though the only downsides probably were that the rooms were basic with solid, hard mattresses and pillows that would give you back and neck pain. Our cabinet had stains all over it and our toilet was horrible because there was a small hole in the pipe so when you flushed the toilet anything liquid inside would go onto the floor. The basic maintenance was lacking. Don't bother to eat at the restaurant because the staff were not helpful and had trouble understanding what we wanted. Altogether an okay stay but the staff could have been more helpful and friendlier.
Awful, idiotic hosts
Benjazz26on 13/08/2016 18:01I had a terrible experience here, firstly the man taking our passport details kept writing our information in the wrong boxes, over and over again; this took 20 minutes which wouldn't have been so bad had he not been rude. He then blatantly lied to us and told us that the minimum stay was 3 nights... What?! On top of this, our rooms were dirty, the shower was covered in limescale, the door did not lock properly and our room was filled with biting insects; to think lonely planet actually recommended this place. We left after the first night, covered in bites! Take my advice, spend your 1000RPS elsewhere.
Not worthy
Ram Chandra Gon 02/06/2016 18:19Room was hilarious, old built.Gate of bathroom was cheap and loose.Bathroom size was very small. Mattress was so hard that could cause you back pain. Food and pool were nice. The best thing is that it is very very close to Brahma Temple.
