Friendly welcome, big room, free parking, great public transport to centre of town
Shmaggleon 17/07/2017 16:29Such a friendly welcome from this small, independent hotel! It was very easy to find with Satnav driving from Calais, with free parking on the grounds and no need to drive into the centre of town. Very quiet, peaceful suburb with bus and tram very close (we used tram - 5 mins walk away) so easy to get into the centre of the old town, about 15 minutes away on the tram. We visited for a family gathering but it was during the festival so some road changes etc - pleased we decided to stay outside of the centre! Staff provided us with tram tickets at a discounted rate.
Room very big, with king sized bed and a double sofa bed, good air con, mosquito panels on the window so we could have the window open at night. Wifi free and worked well, was able to listen to Radio 4 in the morning without any buffering! Bathroom also very big, lovely huge shower head (kids now want one at home!) and heated towel rail. Small fridge in room including a very reasonably priced mini bar and a safe, plus able to order drinks downstairs. Very good breakfast with wide variety to choose from, and they had non-dairy spread and soya milk. Didn't use the swimming pool or sauna as we were busy out in Ghent doing things but looked OK.
In summary, a very pleasant stay with such lovely staff, would definitely recommend it to other families.
A fair overnight stay
Wandering_Mealson 17/06/2017 10:01Chose this hotel based on reviews here and the free parking which is hard to come by as you get closer to town.
Staff very friendly and helped to orientate us and give us tips on where to visit.
Location is so so - we would have preferred to be in town itself but would have been hard with our car. Understand tram is just nearby and hotel sells tickets for the tram but we drove in each time. Neighbourhood has a nice quiet and charming feel to it.
The room itself felt a bit dated. We visited during a very hot spell and searched the room for A.C which was sadly not to be found in our room...although I acknowledge A.C. is probably not needed on most days in Ghent. Shower was a bit odd as it required a fair step down to get into the tub and the shower flooded our bathroom floor each time we used it. Bed was reasonably comfortable but pillows were thin. Room was spotlessly clean though.
Didn't try brekky so can't comment on that.
Excellent value for money
marklin100on 30/05/2017 15:37We were in room 5 which was quite possibly the largest hotel room we have ever been in. It also has A/C which was nice since we were there during a hot spell in Ghent. Room was comfortably furnished with an in room fridge and safe. Coffee and tea facilities were there as well. Room and bathroom were well cleaned. Bathroom was little tired in places, but not bad.
Front desk staff were excellent and very helpful. My only complaint is that the hot food service during breakfast could be hotter. I found the bacon and sausage on all our days there to be only tepid. Something should be done to ensure hot food is kept hot.
Location is a 10 minute tram ride, number 2, from the old town. The hotel offers free parking which in Ghent is a bonus. Also much quieter area then in the old town. We had no issues eating downtown then hopping back on the tram after a short walk to make our way back to the hotel. We would stay at this hotel again.
Best part of our Ghent stay. Highly recommended
684nikhilon 30/05/2017 06:18An Art Deco villa built in the 1920s currently housing 21 room hotel in a quaint little quarter of the beautiful Ghent, this hotel is wonderful as with comfort and the hospitality it offers from the hosts. The hotel is 100m from the nearest tram station and has restaurants just behind the hotel which is just a cycle ride away. This hotel is all that we asked for with a big room given to us (Room no 4) good for 3 adults and 3 kids. Amenities included a quite swimming pool in the basement and decent breakfast for a nominal price. The only minor minus point is the housekeeping needs to be a bit more cleaner.
This is a must stay hotel when in Ghent highly recommended. I would like to thank Anneleen and Gerald the owner for their hospitality warmth and all the help they provided during our stay. Would love to return here once again.
Nice Hotel Perfect For Tourists
HantsFlyeron 22/05/2017 22:53This hotel is a little out of town and a good 20-25 minute walk from the centre of Ghent, however there is a tram stop about 100 metres away that takes you to the main square, but we walked in and there are many bars and restaurants and sights on the way.
The staff were all very friendly and efficient and a credit to the hotel, the room was clean and perfect for a short stay and there was a large free car park.
The only thing that was disappointing was that breakfast was not included in the price, so I cant comment on that.
In conclusion a good hotel for those that dont mind staying a little out of town in a nice area and I had no problem walking back from the centre of town late at night, perfect for those visiting with a car and only a short walk or tram ride to the train station..
