Mixed experience
Geir-Oleon 23/04/2014 19:57This is maybe not the best choice of location at Easter time. There is not much to do around here at this time of the year. We choice this because we thought there would be a flea market nearby on Easter Sunday. It was announced on the web, but as far as we could see it never took place. This is a beach hotel and might be excellent during the summer. We stayed there only two weeks after it had opened after the winter. Our room smelled pretty bad of mold. When we complained about this we were immediately given another room that did not have this problem. We had a good night's sleep. We did not eat in the hotel, so we cannot comment on their food.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
Internet was slow, but that is a problem in nearly every hotel. It still escapes me why hotels are unable to give their guests an internet service that is similar to what you are used to from home or from the office. It is annoying that one has to log in over and over again.
Fair Price, Great Location, Great Food
Grant Ion 07/08/2013 16:51This is good hotel and a fair price. The best aspect was no doubt the beach front restaurant, simply sunning location, 5 meters from the waters edge, great staff, very very good food and fantastic prices! The beach at the back of the hotel was quiet despite being the peak of the peak season. It's not the worlds best beech, but certainly clean and a source of hours of family fun. It's also very safe as you can go really far out into the sea without the water getting to deep, ideal if your children are adventurous. We are from London and didn't meet a single Brit whilst we were there. Everyone was either, French, German or Spanish. The restaurant in the hotel itself is average and more expensive. The rooms have great air conditioning and are very clean and newly renovated, some have new bathrooms.
The staff do sit by the pool and drink in the evening and periodically throughout the day, but to be honest even when full (as it was during our stay) the hotel isn't that busy so I don't blame them and they are very friendly.
The breakfast is very average, I would not recommend paying for it, especially if you had a family to feed. You're much better just buying food from the local supermarket, cheaper and better.
I would return to the hotel, however, it wasn't amazing enough to stop me going else where.
Stunning sunrises, quiet location
Alvar Hon 27/06/2013 20:31Nice seaside location, very quiet, no traffic. Hotel newly renovated and thereby very fresh and clean. The hotel was not fully booked and we were upgraded to a larger room, which was a good surprise. Bathroom was brand new. Large terrace with beautiful view onto the sea. Wi-fi is free. Free parking too. Large pool, warm though not heated. Quiet surroundings.
The staff was very friendly (thank you for your help, Melanie!), multilingual, doing everything to make you feel at home. Good sightseeing tips, if you are able/happy to walk a bit..
Prunete is a little far from major tourists spots, but a great location for a stop over if going south, or for discovering the "region" Castagniccia (old villages, ancient churches, ruins, etc.) or other areas. Corsica is a not so big country.
Do not forget to rent a car though, for there is not so much to do or visit within walking distance...
The hotel is right next to the beach, they even have a beach restaurant "la paillote" that serves tasty pizzas and local seafood, at a very reasonable price.
Only one thing: On our last night there was a corsican folk concert in the restaurant downstairs, til 11 pm and we had to ask a member of staff to close the corridor door (my husband and I could not figure out how to do it!).
All in all a very nice hotel considering french standards. Will recommend to friends.
Interesting stay-such a strange experience still not sure if it was good or bad!
UKtraveller726on 12/10/2012 21:01We stayed in this hotel at the very beginning of September. The day after we arrived, the beach bar closed as it was 'the end of season', we were surprised by this as we had paid high season rates and not been told this would be the case beforehand. On one day (our 4th) the staff.spent the day sitting round the pool drinking Pernod-and it really felt like we were intruding on a private party. A few of the staff were lovely, others struggled with the idea of customer service and it was impossible to tell who, if anyone was managing the place. The weather was very mixed and I am sure this must have impacted on our experience but needless to say, we will not be back.
