What People are saying

Decent Hotel

Somnath Non 23/04/2017 14:33

Decent hotel for one night stay. The hotel has shops and other department stores nearby. The ambience is quite attractive in the reception area but as the lobby approaches it's all dull and has poor lighting. There are no non-smoking rooms as per the bell boy. So be ready to puff in a good amount of lingering cigarette smell. The room I got had the mixture of smoke smell and moisture. I had to leave the windows open for sometime before settling down. The bathroom, bed and other amenities are decent. The a/c s and the furnitures are old style. I had ordered food little late in the night and was definitely served heated chapati s and curry. Overall a okay hotel to stay if you are in a transit- provided you get a good deal.

Very welcoming establishment close to former ancestral home

My husband's family put us up in this Hotel for the 10 days we spent in Kolkata. It is close to the former 'joint family' ancestral home, now replaced by flats, so an ideal base to see everyone.
It was surprising quiet, well-staffed by friendly faces, with breakfast and laundry services, WiFi, t.v. a big bed and plenty of hot water

HOTEL PANASIA INTERNATIONAL KOLKATA – very expensive and unduly cramped

PLEASE READ THE FULL REVIEW.
I booked this hotel on-line, just for the sake of ROA’S UDIPI HOME, a South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant, across the road. When we entered the hotel, we were shown Room No. 101, a deluxe room (Rs 2800 plus tax) and we refused to stay in that cage like room. Then we were shown Room No. 102, a very large - royal room (Rs 4600 plus tax). When our luggage was being shifted, someone came and said that room was already allotted and we were moved to Room No. 106 (Rs 3700 plus tax). Even though this 106, was also not spacious enough, we agreed to stay in there. As soon as we occupied 106, I shifted all the unwanted furniture out of the room and made sufficient space for us to move about. In addition, we split the bed and moved them towards the walls and then the room looked spacious and comfortable.
But for the restricted moving space, we loved the amenities provided in the room and the rich wooden wall panelling and cupboards. The lift is an added advantage in this hotel. Also being in the residential locality, the road noise was much less and very safe for family. We never had any issues with the staff and in fact, they were well behaved and helpful to us. I availed the complementary breakfast just for two days and it was good enough. On all other days, we had BF, LUNCH and DINNER either in ROA’S UDIPI HOME or in BANANA LEAF (KOMALAVILAS complex). When we checked deluxe rooms (Rs. 1500 plus tax) in Hotel KOMALAVILAS, they were horribly bad, when compared to cosy rooms in HOTEL PANASIA INTERNATIONAL.
This hotel is centrally located, behind LAKE MALL and we could visit all the tourist spots in Kolkata, comfortably by UBER, TRAM or METRO. We enjoyed the stay in HOTEL PANASIA INTERNATIONAL, even though it was bit costly and rooms were small.
PEOPLE, WHO PREFER A CLASS, WILL definitely CHOOSE HOTEL PANASIA INTERNATIONAL.

Fairly good budget hotel in the heart of the city

Here's a hotel that sort of made me wish I was a few pounds lighter or that I could make myself into a Bonsai version of myself. Decidedly cramped all around. Be it the lift or the staircase or the lobby, definitely not for the well fed!! I had a Royal room so it was just about okay, but I also managed a peek into the lower categories and felt claustrophobic !! Do keep your size in mind while using this place. Otherwise well located, and is a converted residential property so it is in a largely residential neighborhood. The food lacks the local flavour and is just about palatable. Would recommend only for short business trips if you have work nearby.
