Don't miss this simple, friendly hotel in Menton!

Finding a room in mid-August in Menton is always a challenge. Over several years, one is welcomed in the same friendly manner by the owner.
The room is functional, clean. No frills, but properly equipped, including individual (and quiet) air-conditioning in each room. The decoration is simple, the colour scheme both warm and relaxing.
Breakfast is minimalistic, as one expects at that price level. But then, one finds restaurants and little stores all along the street.
An indisputable asset of this hotel is its location 250 meters from the ''Promenade du Soleil'' along the Mediterranean, with its numerous cafés and restaurants, and in the summer many of them occupy part of the sidewalk above the (mostly pebble) beach.
As anywhere else in Menton in the high season, parking requires advance planning, or sheer luck. There are 3 free parking places just in front of the hotel, but that's where you need sheer luck.
Menton is worth exploring: the old city climbing up its hills, the stunning views on the sea and the mountains, but also its summer music festival. And the Jean Cocteau Museum provides a fascinating insight into the times of that polymath writer, poet, playwright, artist, director, who was a leading figure in the French cultural scene in the first half of the 20th century.
To conclude, Le Parisien provides a simple, practical, affordable base to explore what the area offers.

Good base to visit the area

Decent rooms, although the view isn't the best. However for this price, the service, rooms and breakfast are all more than decent.

With a bit of luck you can park your car in front of the hotel, but it's on a first come-first served basis.

Good budget option

Clean room and bathroom, except that the shower screen needed substantial descaling. The wifi requires you to login again every time you want to surf and - despite ticking the "remember me" box - you have to enter your email again every time. Also, it does not allow you to use two devices with the same email address. Parking is free near the hotel, but not often available. Otherwise, absolutely fine.

Smallish clean rooms. Good AC, Good price. Free close Parking . WiFi Friendly helpful staff. Close to the sea font and 10 minutes from the old town and the old cemetery , apilprimage place for every rugby player!

Perfect for what we paid

We stayed a night here upstairs on the street side. It's a short walk to the sea front, a little longer walk to the center, but we were merely passing through so it wasn't critical. With the balcony doors fully closed most of the traffic noise diminished. The bed was very comfortable and the staff was more than helpful. We went to the restaurant they recommended, Le Napoli, very good food and just around the corner from the hotel. Will stay here again if we're in the area.
