Great location for exploring Cartagena old town, with just a few minutes walk from restaurants and bars. Also a large supermarket right on the corner which is handy for getting snacks and water!
The hotel was great, probably the best we stayed in in Colombia. It worked out at abour £85 for 2 nights for 2 people, but there are definitely cheaper options if you are on a smaller budget.
The room was great, very spacious with a great shower. Also had a safe which was important for us. Breakfast was served on the roof terrace which was lovely, and was coffee, fresh juice, fruit and arepas or toast with eggs. If you're in a hurry, make sure to allow yourself plenty of time for breakfast as it can get busy and there are only 2 ladies serving/cooking. The staff didn't speak any English which was a struggle at times, even though my partner speaks quite good Spanish, but they were helpful where they could be.

This hotel was good value. Staff did not speak much English, so it pays to know some basic Spanish or have a phrasebook, translation handy. The breakfast in the mornings was basic but good, with a serving of fruit, and then eggs, ham and coffee. The walled city is small enough to walk around, so if that is what you wish to see, then this is a good location, and not far to walk to Getsemani area either. We stayed 4 nights, and once the power went out for about 90 minutes, and once the water was not available for about an hour too. I am not sure if this was due to the utility companies or the hotel, but it was not a long time to cause too much disruption for us. Although staff did not speak English well, we found them friendly and they allowed us to check out 2 hours later at no extra charge due to us having a late afternoon flight.

From the moment I walked in the door everyone at this hotel was helpful. I was here for a wedding and being the first time in Cartagena everyone here helped me get around and find whatever I was looking for. The room was modern and clean, and kept tidy by two very friendly ladies. Included is also a great breakfast every morning on the rooftop terrace. The terrace offers great 360 views and it's a great way to start the day off. Also I had an issue with my iphone battery and one of the gentleman walked me to a business that replaced it for a good price. He talked to the guys working there for me since my Spanish needs some work. Very helpful. It's walking distance to anything you'd want to do in the walled city and beyond. For the price I would recommend the Royal Inn for it's cleanliness, very helpful staff, breakfast and proximity to many places in Cartagena.

I left this hotel the next day I arrived Cartagena and I went to another one in Bocagrande...
Room was out of electricitly and water. My friend and I ask them for some water
to clean ourselves and they said they dont have water at all. Customer service in the lobby was terrible! I dont recommend this hotel to nobody.!

Amazing place to stay in *Cartagena de Indias Colombia. the location is perfect in the historical center of Cartagena. Super friendly people, Thanks to *Carlos and the staff from the hotel you really get to feel home! there is not words to thank all the ladies with the breakfast morning music, fresh eggs, different juices every day, nice Colombian Coffee, arepas,{Colombian bread from mais} botter and jelly.and the most amazing are all the tasty fruits from Colombia.
