Old World Charm
Joyce Son 30/06/2017 03:45Arriving at the hotel I was greeted with a complimentary drink in a beautiful old world sitting area.In the entry to the dining room I loved a beautiful marble topped cabinet. My room was spacious with good ammenities including a bar fridge. An opening window was a blessing and the noise from outside was minimal.Breakfast buffet was very good and the food was very fresh. In the nearby street were plenty of restaurants and malls and as a single lady I felt quite safe walking out in the evening to find a restaurant.Staff were helpful.
AND FOOD VERY FRESH. iN THE NEARBY STREET WERE PLENTY OF RESTAURANTS AND MALLS AND A SAFE PLACE FOR A LADY TO WALK ON HER OWN IN THE EARLY EVENING.
Excellent Hotel
JackB45on 27/06/2017 01:23Very nice hotel, room and service with an excellent breakfast each morning. Close to large shopping malls and 20 minute walk to metro. Many excellent restaurants close by to hotel and food courts in the malls.
Average at best but a great staff
John Non 13/06/2017 06:27The good: The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly, professional and attentive. The rooms are nice and modern and the bed is comfortable. For the price it's a nice hotel.
The bad: The WiFi is awful so be prepared to have issues with that. There is no pool which I missed when booking so technically that's my fault. The Jacuzzi would have been nice but they were "broken" the entire length of our stay (6 nights). I'm not sure why it would take a week to fix that. The "fitness center" is so bad it's laughable. The equipment literally looks like it came from a California boardwalk in 1985. Don't plan on getting a good workout from weight training.
It's not what I thought I would get when booking a hotel in one the most affluent areas of Medellin. I'll stay somewhere else next time.
Great Staff But Hotel Has Serious Issues
CaptainKuddleson 11/06/2017 20:59I am being generous on my "average" rating. I am rating it average because the Staff is excellent in most cases. I am going to list what was "Good" and what was "Bad", and I am being as fair as I can be.
GOOD - LOCATION, LOCATION and again LOCATION ! The STAFF are all very nice and attentive, unfortunately they do not own or run the hotel. They can apologize and understand but cannot resolve the issues at this hotel. The "owners or investor" are the only ones who can resolve all the problems.
BAD - Oh Boy, there is a lot of it. 1). NO HOT WATER the first 2 of my 4 days here. I was told by reception and management that they were "doing maintenance" on one of their two water tanks. I talked to various people and they were also not happy because they also did not have hot water. I also saw that this was a problem on 1 side of the hotel rooms and not the other side of the hotel. I was able to shower on 2 days, at best the water was "lukewarm" tolerable. Question, "why do maintenance on your water tanks when it is high season" and the hotel is full ? 2). OLD PROPERTY, this is an old property that requires extensive renovation from top to bottom. Should be closed and completely gutted. 3). HANDICAPPED ROOM, I was given a handicapped room (I am not handicapped). When I asked why, they said because that was what the assignment was... What a Mess in the bathroom. It had a large flat shower for you to get a wheelchair in. So all there was, was a Drain on the floor, cloth curtains all around thos allowed water to go EVERYWHERE ! I had to end up putting towels around the bathing area to prevent the whole bathroom from having water everywhere on the floor (the 2 of 4 days I could shower). Also water pressure bad. 4). FURNITURE, furniture in my room was "at least 30 years old" and showing it badly. 5). ROOM SAFE - ANCIENT ! Though it was digital, it was ancient digital and had a nob to open and close. Instructions on the safe where written in tiny letters on the safe and the procedure to setup the safe for your use was ridiculous. Also you CANNOT even get a 12" laptop in it, it is that small. 6). LAUNDRY - sent laundry out one day, handed it to reception about 8:05am. they state on the laundry paper that if handed in before 9:30am you will get it back in about 2 hours. Well 7:00pm came and went and no laundry. After complaining they brought the laundry to the room, with ITEMS MISSING. After another complaint they found the missing items. Never got a straight answer from the hotel why all this happened. 7). IN ROOM MINIBAR - Rooms are supposed to have a small stocked fridge. I arrived, fridge was hot and nothing in it. I complained, they had someone come and adjust the fridge. They never offered any explanation why it was unstocked, it was a "mystery" to them... 8). GETTING SOAKED - I was sitting on a bench in the front of the hotel by their garden, when all of a sudden I get watered squirted on me by hotel staff (obviously a maid or such). there was no reason for this except complete carelessness ! 9). WiFi - So-So at best, was not useable at certain times. 10). BREAKFAST, poor overall selection of items for this supposed quality hotel. Croissants were hard and always appeared to be 1-2 day old croissants. Coffee, as in all hotels, Hotel BAD. 11). ROOM WINDOW, while the latch on the window did work, it did not work well. Left less than a 1/8" gap after closing. Meant noise and dust from outside came in the room to some extent.
After all this I am sure I forgot an item or two... Again GREAT Location, Staff attentive this is why I rate it Average. But the hotel has serious issues. Would I stay here again, "maybe, but probably not unless hotel is renovated".
