Wonderful Find!! Rustic Hotel in Beautiful Setting

My husband and I had been driving around and exploring the area. It was late when we decided on this hotel.
Wow!! What a wonderful find.
We were greeted by a really friendly elderly lady who managed to find a room for us. The hotel is old but has a lovely charm to it.
Our room was lovely- overlooking the lake and beautiful trees.
The bed was comfortable and the room clean. The bathroom was fair size.
Only complaint was the towels - thread bare and needed replacing.
We were just in time for dinner. My husband and I both found the food - delicious and service good. Restaurant was very busy and created lovely atmosphere.
Breakfast was adequate
Free Parking was a bonus
After breakfast we took a stroll around the lake which was beautiful.
A lovely rustic hotel in beautiful , tranquil setting with friendly, helpful staff.
Definitely recommend this hotel

Beautiful location authentic hotel

This was a last minute on the spot find and what a treat, we loved the hotel, surrounded by a lake and woods it is tucked away and what every tourist would expect from an authentic German hotel, wood every where, plush furnishings, and downstairs a spa area with huge sauna, 2 steam rooms, spa pool and wet sauna, perfect after walking through the woods. Our room on the 3rd floor overlooked the lake and surrounding hills complete with vines. The room was the size of a small apartment with huge bathroom and we had a balcony with seating. This is not a big hotel so it has a friendly feel and the staff are helpful though have limited English, one exception being Remzi who works reception, kitchen and everywhere else! He was fantastic, his English is amazing and nothing is too much trouble, he handled a fire evacuation in the kitchen with calm efficiency, even when the fire brigade turned up! One minor detail is the food was average, the breakfast is very good but the dinner was disappointing, a shame when everything else is so good about the hotel.

The room made me feel depressed and I was looking for every excuse to stay away from it. This hotel was not my cup of tea.

Delightful German hotel

This is a must stay. Its set is seclusive, superb hotel.

The rooms are spacious, very comfortable, and the food is locally bought- do eat in the restaurant.

You can walk through the woods, after dinner and stroll into the town, with swans in the lake, and beautiful green scenery.

Was and Could be Again

This was our second stay at the Kreuzberghof.

The previous stay found the property generally good and the service okay.

Since then (5 months later) the property is in drastic need of TLC. Weeds, trash, and a general "unkempt" feel overall.

Halls and common areas are dusty, dead bugs, floors need vacuuming. Windows that have not been cleaned in months. No air flow and extremely hot!

Our room was generally okay, but needed a thorough cleaning and maintenance (burnt out lights, door stop broken, worn towels, etc. Pillows are so worn, you can squish them to less than a inch thick.

The room was on the top floor and was stifling. Asked the desk for a fan and was told they had none and to open a window. There is no air flow from the hall and the sun beats in for the last half of the day.

Breakfast was set early and never refreshed. The scrambled eggs harden in the serving pan. The bread was stale. The milk was warm.

Service was perfunctory and lacked any warmth.

It is so sad to see this fine property go the way of so many just to save a few Euros.
