Very basic.
RedRose6865on 10/05/2017 00:18I had a double room which was really basic. The have a no shoes rules but the slippers they provide for your use look filthy! They have an onsen but only for men, which was useless for me. Most of the guests appear to be men.
The breakfast was just one bit of bread and one egg. Unlimited hot drinks and soft drinks. I wouldn't really consider this as a proper breakfast?
Free wifi which was decent.
English of the reception staff was very poor. Nobody understood any of my questions.
Within walking distance of the train station although a bit tricky to find. I originally though the hotel was next to the river, but actually it is next to a canal so dont be midled by the name as you may end up walking past the canal towards the river which was what i did!
Great for budget travelers
roomoomooon 02/07/2012 02:47I stayed in the Room A for one night. The hotel is located about 7mins walk away from Okayama JR Station. From the station, walk straight down along the street, passing by Takashimaya on your right. Walk further down till you see the canal and turn right. There are a few other hotels along the canal, and you'll find Hotel Riverside after passing a couple of alleyways.
From the hotel entrance you will see rows of shoe lockers; proceed in and the check-in counter is on the left. Check-in was a breeze and the staff changed my room to non-smoking without hesitation when I told her I made a mistake during my booking. At check-in you will receive a toiletries pack. You can also rent bathrobes and grab additional toiletries supplies for free. Corridors were really cool with the AC blasting, and you get a whiff of aroma oils all around. Room is very clean, and awkwardly spacious for a single room. The room has a single bed, and mini-fridge, and a small digital TV. Bathroom is very narrow but manageable for Asian women like me.
In the lobby you can get free drinks (coffee/tea/soft drinks), and there is only 1 PC available for internet use. Note that the PC is located right at the smoking corner of the lounge. The hotel also provides free rental of laptops. You can also use the toaster anytime.
The capsules and onsen (common bath) are for men only. Thus, majority of the guests are males, so this hotel might not suit ladies who feel uncomfortable to be around so many guys.
Adequate for one night
thelonious22on 04/01/2012 18:16capsule is just big enough for someone about 6ft tall...everything else is in a common area...bath, lounge, etc...the lounge had free drinks and the counter guy was pretty friendly...there:s only a tiny locker so not recommended if you have a lot of luggage...would not recommend staying for more than a night...it is cheap but few thousand yen more can get you a hotel...very close to okayama station though...
