Small town tinsukia and if you have something , you feel as if you have the whole world at your mercy. In hindi the saying goes " ANDHO MEIN KAANA RAJA"
This is how the hotel manager Mr. Shamim & his loyalist receptionist behaves. Checked in today 26th july morning with a nasty look from the receptionist as he woke up from his slumber. Had booked a room for 4 persons 10 days ago for a family trip. On enquiring the recetionist told that whatever depicted on website was not entirely true. He did not pay any heed to all the words that had been said while booking . But after much "hulla" he tried to pass on the buck and told that the manager will have final words in services. Now the boss(manager) tried explaining how hotel rooms are made and that what happened was my misunderstanding. Finally i had to surrender to the whims & fancies of the hotel management and check out that very moment. Pathetic experience of my life

I recently went with my family to The Majestic , which is the restaurant in this hotel.
The decor of the restaurant looks elegant and the overall build of the hotel is decent.
Hence it attracts families.
BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF A Restaurant THE FOOD is terrible , extremely terrible.
Everything here seema to be cooked in the same gravy , be it paneer , lamb , fish or chicken.
It seems that their chef learnt to cook one thing and is applying thr same method to cook everything.
There is no way Paneer butter masala and chicken do pyaza are supposed to taste the same , or for that matter dal makhni and paneer butter masala , or kdhai paneer and PBM. Everything tastes like paneer butter masala.
Don't get decieved by the crowd here, tinsukia is a town dominated by trade and business, also a place nearby is duliajan , which has an oil refinery, so the people have money here but not a decent place to go with their families. Give them a place with nice decor and elegant looks , they will shell their money.And that is the entire restaurant business business model in Tinsukia.
One more thing , this restaurant uses extremely cheap tricks to save money.
One example is that they used regular bhutta (indian field corn) instead of sweet corn in sweet corn soup or american fried corn.
As someone born and brought up in tinsukia, its my honest suggestion to the tourists who visit tinsukia ,to stay away from these fancy restaurants and opt for some small place to eat , even if you decide to stay in the hotel where the Restaurant is , Its not that you would get amazing food on those small places(better than the food that you get here though) but if you are paying to eat s**t it may as well be cheaper s**t.

The rooms were clean, comfy and spacious. The AC remote missing was quite a hassle. The central hallway in THE CROWN bore a good different look. Room service was good, but the food was very average. Breakfast was below par and I had to contend with bread and omlet. Probably being a South Indian, I had a high standard of expectation for Idly and Sambhar. The staff were courteous and service was fine.

Torn linen, uncken sheets,worn out furniture,walls peeling off,AC not working,low quality toiletries,in trained staff. Must confess it's below expectations however seems this is all you can get in Tinsukia

The place is right in the centre of the town. Rooms are nice and spacious. The service is a little slow, but not poor. The hotel served delicious food and has quite a veg and a non veg spread. The staff is helpful and can arrange for a ride if required. I recommend it for stay for singles and couples with kids
