Tanay Non 26/01/2017 12:51Normally I stay in Gangtok when i go to Sikkim. Gangtok being always too crowded, i did a quick google search led me to this hotel in Rumtek. Hotel Dzong is located about 15 kms from MG Marg, so its not too far from there. The hotel is located right infront of Shanti View Point and the view from there is amazing. The rooms are spacious and well maintained. The restaurant at the ground floor serves amazing food. The manager, Miss Rashmi, is super helpful and will make sure that your stay there is as smooth as possible. She made sure we got a comfy cab everytime we went to Gangtok, helped us with planning our trip ahead. It was an amazing experience staying there. The only area where the hotel needs to work on is on having a better stocked bar considering that there arent many pubs or bars around the place, they need to have a well stocked bar.

Jaya Von 13/06/2016 16:10The located 25 kms away from the gangtok city ! It'll take nearly 30 mins to travel on a normal road, but when it comes to a hill ! uhh!!! It took more than one and a half hour ! there were no markets nearby! They service was not bad ! They tried to cheat us asking for tax which was included on my package ! Food was better ! but only bread and rotis will be available! Don't chose this one until u have no other choice
Badly managed Hotel

1. The Hotel is located at Shanti Viewpoint and offers a nice view of the Gangtok city.
2. The basic infrastructure is good...
And the main issues are..
1. The hotel is located almost 26 km away from Gangtok city that means for hill driving you will lose almost 2 and a half hours to and fro even to begin your site seeing.
2. If you are not interested in taking shared transport which is also not very frequent you will end up losing a lot of money even to reach Gangtok.
3. The property is recently taken over by a new owner who is shortstaffed and utterly unprofessional in managing it. I booked this hotel through Make My rip as it showed this as a 3 star property.. but it is not... The day we reached the Hotel late at night there was no electricity and it looked like a bhoot bangla with candle lit at reception....We had to fight for basics such as electricity and water on a daily basis.... leave aside other facilities... We had to stay there per force as we had already paid the entire money.
4. The evenings get really dull and boring as nothing is offered in hotel or nearby location.

Karan909on 25/05/2016 10:56We stayed here for 4 nights it was peaceful happy and amazing. Staff is outstanding. Great view of the whole of Gangtok city as well as the mountains. It's little far from main market, but the beauty of it lies in the peace you get while staying here. Actual Sikkim in rumtek dzong .
Secluded and lousy
Kavitha Ron 25/05/2016 05:25In no way this hotel can be ranked 3*. Located so far away from Gangtok in a secluded location. No choice for breakfast which is complimentary. Almost everyday we ended up with some white bread and jam. Lot of water problem and electricity problem. People who are slightly aged are not given rooms on lower floors. Have to climb up the stairs and go down so many times as the intercom is also not functioning. No hotel conveyance available. Staff is a little friendly.
