Newly renovated inexpensive hotel in old building in heart of historic area.
Joanna Hon 14/06/2017 22:31You couldn't ask for a better location to visit the historic area of Vieux Lyon. This small hotel is on a very quiet street and has been totally renovated inside. The staff couldn't be nicer and the breakfast is great. No hairdryer or fridge in room, no English language TV channels.
Good inexpensive small hotel, great location
groovediggeron 08/06/2015 02:29Good little hotel located in a good spot for exploring Lyon. It doesn't look very big from the outside, but interior corridors do a surprising amount of winding around, so there are more rooms than it first appears. The rooms are basic, no frills, but clean. You'll want to be walking around exploring the town anyway. Breakfast is your basic French style with coffee or tea, toast, yogurt, etc., nothing fancy. It was an optional add-on at check-in. Only gripe ... the rooms further inside the hotel don't get wifi ... I had to go to the lobby to use it. Overall good value and recommended.
Very nice little hotel
Jarmo-hkion 13/02/2015 20:20Location could not been better for exploring the city. Walking distance to major sightseeing places: Vieux Lyon, Place des Terreaux, Croix-Rousse hillside...
Hotel is in a very quiet neighborhood, yet at first a bit shabby area with so many graffiti everywhere, but they seem to be everywhere in the city (wonder why??) Rooms are very basic, but there are everything I needed. No sight from my window, but I rather watch the sights outside.
Withing few hundred meters the are plenty of great little Bouchons to enjoy local cuisine.
Everyone at the reception spoke English and they were very helpful with me and all my questions where to go and how to get there.
I would recommend Hotel Saint Vincent to all and for my next visit to Lyon, I definitely would stay again.
Don't judge a book by its cover...
FlorenceFoodieon 08/09/2014 00:41The one big down side to this hotel in my opinion is one that you can't really ignore when you get out of the taxi and survey it. From outside it looks like a shop window in Amsterdam. The painted red frame and the light-up sign do make you wonder whether you booked the right place...
But inside it is a different story. The stairway has its original stone walls and has been restored to make a characteristic setting. The rooms are extremely small and very basic, so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone looking for a luxury stay, but considering the prices, you can't really complain. On the contrary!!! Its strong points, apart from the very low rates are its central position (just a 5 to 10 minute walk from the centre and directly across from the river) and the friendly helpful staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Shame about the facade...but maybe they already have all the business they can manage without adding passing trade. In any case, a must for the traveller on a budget.
Nettes kleines Hotel, gute Lage, beste Betreuung
Silvia Bon 03/06/2014 11:51We spent two nights at this **-Hotel (family with two teenagers). One room (nr 30, one double bed) overlooking the street and sunny (and noisier at night), one room (nr 11, one double and one single bed) towards the court-yard, darker but quieter. The rooms are very clean, the bathrooms seem quite new and are absolutely impeccable for a **. High ceilings, comfortable beds, very good Wi-Fi, big TV (for those who need to watch TV in Lyon) and ample cupboard space (in nr 11 it was a free-standing open wardrobe). Very nice fabrics, fresh colors. Beautiful wooden floors. Very old building! Nothing is straight, lots of angles and a very funny floor plan. So every room is probably a bit different. Ours were a very good size.
Breakfast was ample, with croissants, baguettes, yoghurt and compote de fruits.
Very nice staff, very helpful, know their city.
Would defenitely recommend it. Exceeded our expectations (considering it is rated a **).
