What People are saying

Poor experience & low level of service. 3* hotel charging 5*.

We booked 2 Japanese-style rooms for one night (4 pax, 2 adults 2 children), half-board. We came there around 11:00am from Niseko. Hotel is very old looking in all ways. Not Ryokan like at all. Hotel was totally empty. Even the hotel shop was closed. Only one person at reception. Poor welcome. Had to carry our lugage ourselves, no help: were shown a corner where to put them in the meantime. Were told straight away that rooms (2) would not be available before 3pm, despite seeing no hotel guest at all. No restaurant for lunch time. When asking reception about restaurants around in the village, we were indicated 2 choices only, whereas we discovered there are plenty of close-by choices in reality. Spent late afternoon at the hotel onsen: nice place and good service. Dinner menu was nice (6-8:00pm) and diverse but location was again lacking renovation. Breakfast between 6 and 9:00am. We came at 8:45am and were told right away, the breakfast room will be closing at 9:00am sharp (which happened) but we could pick up some food from buffet and bring it ourselves to our room! Horrible feeling when you spend for 2 rooms nights more than 750 USD, just for one night. Clientele type was senior people (late retirees). Not worth the monney at all. Much better options around. More a feeling of former Eastern German hotel than Japanese hospitality and luxury.

Best onsen resort in sapporo!

There is nothing I do not love about this place. Everything was beyond my expectation. Highly recommended!!! The room, services, food and the onsen were more than I've expected. I will stay there again for sure!

Good alternative stay in Hokkaido apart from Sapporo

This hotel is about 1 hour drive from Sapporo but well worth it. Room is spacious and clean in the traditional tatami style, onsen on the first floor is awesome (with outdoor onsen) but is only available to either gender for a specific period (morning for gents and night for ladies). The usual onsen for either sexes on the top floor is just generic. Another onsen in the neighbouring block has a beautiful view of the river. One common shortcoming however is the lack of water within the locker room so if you feel overheated from the soaking you either have to dress up again or go out naked to get the drinks lol.

Dinner provided is Kaiseiki ryori and totally awesome. Unfortunately the same cant be said for the breakfast which is buffet style and usual fare. And my pet peeve is that they serve dolphin meat (frown).

At night you can see the Jozenkei firework from the hotel lobby but dont expect too much as its just a few sparks of firework that last for about 5 mins (although publicity material stated 10 mins). Another site worth checking out is the fire dance at the jinja just 10 mins walk away. However do note that these are winter only activities.

Nice Hotel

That was a nice stay. The room was big . The Onsen was clean and nice. There were lot of different brands shower set to choose . After shower also had many type of lotions to use.
If you just wear kimono or not enough clothes to go out, the hotel was very kind to prepare jackets, boots for adults and kids, let you keep warm.
The dinner was delicate but taste so so.
Breakfast time was long queue out of restaurant. Because it was take the food first then found the spot. I couldn't understand why not take the seat first then go get the food!
The hotel has free shuttle from Ordori Park and return.

Honeymoon

Very nice room for a traditional ryokan. In particularly facing the side of the snowy mountain. Reach there for the first night and it was snowing. The hot spring was great, they have indoors and outdoors. Dinner for two nights were two different menus, splendid!
