This place was on our bucket list for so long and finally we stayed here last week. I had a great experience staying here, just loved the interiors and the service by the staffs. They are well behaved and well mannered. Price is also on budget.

I was at kolkata for two days training programme arrange by canara bank
Stayed two nights at Hotel shila international its near by to HHI
Its very nice & comfortable stay shila International , very nice service better than last time food kwality also improved its better than last time, hotel have rooftop restaurant they arrange fresh and good food including breakfast and dinner
It was very nice arrangements by hotel management. Hope to visit again.

"Uncleaned & Unhygenic Hotel"

Booked this hotel online and upon arrival the room was not clean. They cleaned the room when the guest arrived at the hotel. Upon checkin I found a rat in my washroom which was not hygenic at all, though upon complaint they changed my room. Rooms were very cozy. Just to fit all the amenities like small refrigerator , sofa/chairs (Sofa's were also not clean & torn) they has conjusted the room. The ambience of the room is very very dull. I would not recommended this hotel to any one untill you are on a very tight budget. At the same price I got a far better hotel nearby. Highly not recommended for families or couples or business travellers.

Value budget hotel with potential, just needs action.

Booked for my team for a longer stay (12 nights) as it was close to the point of business. Overall a value budget hotel with good potential. Surrounded by lots of shops and restaurants. Cleanliness and upkeep needs serious improvement. Had to point out to reception to clean the room and fix the lights and the refrigerator. They eventually did fix everything pointed out. Breakfast needs improvement and Tea/Coffee added, as these are pretty cheap in Calcutta. Cockroaches needs to be taken care off.

Two weeks in Kolkata without a point of contact

I traveled to Kolkata for two weeks vacation. I landed earlier than expected and took a taxi to this hotel. The staffs immediately checked me in because they knew after seventeen hours of flight I was exhausted. The next morning I woke up, my tea and breakfast was served without me even asking. I have free wifi to do my online classes, and it was steady throughout my stay. I was treated with respect throughout my stay and was very hesitant to go back home. One thing that stood out the most was that when the hotel manager and the receptionist realized that I was cheated by merchants I but things from, they took it upon themselves to ensure I had an escort to follow me everywhere I went, from stores, movies, tour and all. I was really touched and surprise because the actual individual I came to visit never showed up and everyone in the hotel took me as one of their own. If you are traveling to India and most especially Kolkata, but did not stay in this hotel, you are doing yourself a great disservice. I wrote a thank you letter to them in English and Bengal.. with the help of Google translation. Shila International Hotel is the best and I will recommend it any day, time, month, or year to friends, colleagues, family and others. Thank you Shila.
