Hotel Ok, but thieving staff & over charging let the place down!!!

I have just returned from a business trip to Gaziantep and stayed in this hotel. we were a group of 11 staying in 5 rooms dotted around this hotel. all was well, the rooms were in an ok condition, typical of a 2 star Turkish hotel and the breakfast was very good apart from an issue I will get to later.
On day 3 part of the party after going to breakfast discovered that someone had been in their room and stolen £60 sterling and 150 lira (Approx £50). The hotel were very quick to deny it would be their staff but upon checking their master keys and discovering they were missing they refunded all the money straight away and eventually sacked the staff member involved. I was very unhappy that the hotel open all the room doors on a floor so the cleaners can gain access but no one watches that they are safe.
Back to breakfast on the last evening we went to pay the room bill for all 11 of us and were told that we had 600 lira mini bar bill, in total we had maybe had 3 beers per rooms for the entire trip totaling 50 lira, not the 600 they were looking for. after a while we realised that they had charged us for bottled water and fruit juice at breakfast, no where did it say it was not included and I have never been to a hotel anywhere in the world where they charge for water or juice. The manager of the hotel would not listen to us and proceeded to advise us he would have the police come and arrest us if we did not pay. The company we were visiting have used this hotel for over 10 years but after this they have list over 20000 lira of business per year. I would advise people to consider another hotel for leisure or business if you value your money and possessions.

Good budget hotel with friendly manager

At Euro 38- for a triple ,this was a great value budget hotel.
Cons:Limited street parking , no soap and fridge did not cool.

Pros: separate shower with curtain (not wetroom), Efes beer shop and taxi rank very nearby. Bakircilar Carsisi ( Bazaar) is 15 min walk away.Lots of restaurants and shops around area.. 10 minutes by taxi to famous mosaic museum which is fabulaous and worth the time.. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, CNN and other channels on TV, good aircon, desk and chair for using good wifi,,manager speaks good Engish and is very helpful with directions .

An ok hotel near the castle.

Ugurlu Hotel is located along a small street up above at the back of the main Istasyon Caddesi (the main road). I walked about 20 minutes from where the OnurAir shuttle bus dropped me.
Location is good as it’s walking distance to most sights. The castle is about 10 – 15 minutes walk, the Zeugma Museum is a long walk of about 20 minutes to half hour at the back of the main train station. Ugurlu is exactly beside Yunus Hotel and both buildings are actually almost the same.
The staff are fine, courteous but not really informative. The reception kept my passport until I checked out, placed on the small square open compartments of keys and passports right at the back of the receptionist – not inside a safe.
The single room I got is on the second floor beside the stairs so I could hear footsteps and facing the street, view are the buildings infront and what seemed to look like an old or historical church right down the window. Small room – probably less than 20sqm with a little old cabinet, desk and mirror, a small 21-inch (I think) flat panel TV with English news channel.

Bathroom is clean, shower is separate, but the toilet bowl is a bit oddly placed that everytime I sit on it, I have to do it a bit sideways as the distance between the wall of the shower and the bowl is couple of inches only.

Breakfast is of good variety, at least considering this part of the country, and served at the ground floor.

What surprised me is that on my second day when I arrived from a day’s sightseeing around the city, and I asked for my room key, the reception told me it’s in the room. I walked up to my room and found the room door open with the key right on the slot (to make the electric work). Nothing got lost but it’s a good thing I placed my laptop inside my luggage, not that no one can take the whole luggage, at least it’s not a hot sight if I left it on top of the desk. I never experienced coming back to a hotel with a room opened unless someone is making up the bed right upon arrival but no one is there. I never asked the staff anyways as I have all my stuff intact.

Wifi internet works well. Single Room rate is EUR17 inclusive of breakfast and I’ve stayed 2 nights (6 – 8 March 2013).

It’s an ok hotel if you’re not fussy and for the price I’ve paid, I guess it’s fine but I think I’ll checkout other places next time because of the “room door open” incident above.

just for a night stop

in the center of gaziantep we used for a night stop after the flight from from istanbul and the car trip around southeastern turkey.
Very basic hotel, took us a while to find it, since is situated in a narrow one way street; clean according to the region's standard.
Don't expect too much, paid a reasonable using booking.com, if you look for something better probably need to go to novotel or ibis.

Good budget hotel

I stayed one night in Gaziantep in June 2008. Hotel Ugurlu was 35 YTL for one night for one person for a room with bathroom. The hotel has an elevator, is well located, simple and clean. Very good breakfast. It's a good cheap hotel.
