What People are saying

Elite 5 star service with that amazing view

garylambaon 02/07/2017 09:48

This hotel exceeded all our expectations from the moment we walked in to end of our trip.
The deluxe room was just amazing with big king bed lots of space and amazing view of the lake and mountains, then the pool area is spectacular and although busy we quite enjoyed the pool on 2 seperate occasions. Best of all was hotel staff service , they remember al the smallest of the things and make check in and out so much easier for you.

Hotel surroundings are great otherwise with walking trails close to this hotel , gym area with amazing view and breakfast felt like royal feast.

Scoring 5/5 and already planning on going back next year :)

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

I stumbled across this hotel while looking for places to stay in Switzerland, it was on one of those "bucket list" hotels in some online post. We decided to splurge a little bit and stay here. It was completely and totally worth it. We originally thought this was going to be a once in a lifetime trip, but are now thinking we're going to come back just to visit this hotel again.

First, this place is a destination in and of itself. We thought we'd be going into Lucerne a lot, but once we arrived, we ended up mostly staying around the hotel. There are gorgeous walking trails all around the grounds (with cows!), and the spa is epic. We made it out to Mount Pilatus during our stay (about a 20 min car ride), but really didn't venture out much other than that, and have zero regrets.

The spa and pools - the pictures speak for themselves. The outdoor pool was heated to the perfect temperature, not too hot or too cold. The views are breathtaking.

As for the expense - an ala carte breakfast is included in your stay, and parking is free. We also visited Zurich and went to Montreux on Lake Geneva during our trip. Parking and breakfast add up quickly, and so really, this hotel didn't end up being that much more expensive than the others but it was much more enjoyable.

Service was amazing - the in-room mini bar and fruit selection (all included with the room rate) was refreshed twice daily, and the staff was polite and friendly.

Unbelievable

My husband and I stayed here with our two kids and my brother. We had a room in the main building and a second room in the outbuilding. Everything about our stay was exceptional, but I want to review specific features I really enjoyed.

Food - First of all, the food at this resort is very good and very reasonable in my opinion. Beers were $8 and entrees were around $20 and up. Considering the high quality of this resort and the amazing view, I thought this was very affordable. You also get free breakfast until 2:00 p.m. The breakfast included a small cart of fruit, cheese, and meat along with a basket of croissants and breads. You could also order entrees off a menu - we really enjoyed the crepes, omelets (which were a sight for sore eyes after enduring Italian breakfast for our prior two weeks in Italy), and pancakes. They also had really good coffee which was, again, a welcome relief after all the bad coffee we had elsewhere on our trip! It was great having access to free breakfast until 2pm. Since we had fruit in our room, we typically got up early for a piece of fruit and coffee then went and did something active until around 11, then we had breakfast. That was enough to hold us over until dinner. There is also complimentary crackers and fruit by the pool along with bottled water.

View - Pictures do not do this hotel justice. It is more beautiful than it looks like it would be, even though the pictures are insane.

Rooms - the rooms were very well-appointed and spacious. We were impressed with both the size of the rooms and the quality of the construction. We loved the large soaking tub and shower in our room. Robes and slippers were a nice touch.

Things to Do - There are a few hiking trails straight up from the hotel. It's tough work getting up the first hill but it's worth the view and the experience. We saw gorgeous views of Lucerne and the surrounding area, cows, etc. It was fun. There is also a really nice gym on-site, although we didn't use it. You can also borrow bikes near the front desk. Other than hiking, we preferred to sit on the pool deck and swim.

The Pool - it is more amazing than it looks. The pool itself is spectacular even if you don't consider the amazing views.

Wifi worked great.

Overall, it was a great stay. I have zero complaints and can only hope I'll be able to go back one day. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions! I pay close attention to details.

Trades on its location too much!

Why three stars?
Well this hotel is fabulous..it sits like a mighty sugar cube on a hill some 500m above Lake Lucerne and is equipped and furnished with the very best of everything!!!
On arrival, we were welcomed by very competent, articulate and polyglot staff who were clearly very good at their job. On arrival in our room, (which was at the cheap end of the very expensive accommodation available), we were welcomed by a hand-written note, ostensibly from Mr Durrer the Manager, welcoming us to the Hotel and wishing us a pleasant stay...very nice!
However, this is as close as we came to engaging with any of the management of the hotel. For two people who spent four days in a hotel of only 23 rooms during a blistering heatwave, it seems astonishing that the most we saw of any Management presence was a guy in a suit in the back office on a computer.
Breakfast was demonstrably 'not buffet' - "we serve you!!!" we were told. The offering was fine and every request was responded to by the efficient and well-trained waiters. However, when things got busier, significant delays were evident - a request for a coffee was delivered after a 10 - 15 minute interval and this began to get a bit tedious as we were forced to adapt our consumption to the pace of the staff rather than what we desired. This was not helped by the maitre'd (if they have such a guy) skivvying off at regular intervals for a fly drag in the emergency exit to the underground garage, leaving his colleagues short-handed and very evidently under pressure. Why do management not recognise the staffing is inadequate for a 'served' breakfast albeit by (mostly) efficient and competent staff?
So, I'm being harsh, but at the sort of money people seem very happy to stump up - they are under-delivering and over-charging by some measure. Mr, Durrer; leave your spreadsheet and see what is (not) happening to look after your customers.

Wow! Just WOW!

We had high expectation of this place...we had been stalking it, and it's view, on Instagram for a while now. It was beyond anything we imagined!
We arrived in Malpensa airport in Milan at about 7am after a 25 hour flight from Australia, jumped in our hire car by 9am and headed for Lucerne! After 2.5 hours of the most gorgeously scenic, easy driving we began the accent to our hotel. It was overcast and looked like it might rain, but all of a sudden as we kept heading up, it was sunny again! We had broken through the clouds and we were ABOVE them! It was so magical.
It was easy to park right outside the hotel and it was FREE! The staff were absolutely delightful during check in and for our entire stay, especially Kathrin!
The room was cozy and so classy - and a nice size. Plus the bathroom added a little old school glam and beautiful Hermes toiletries were such a nice touch. And then the balcony with that view. Absolutely breathtaking.
But we had really chosen this hotel for its heated infinity pool and the view over lake Lucerne...and it blew us away!! We try to incorporate wellness and spas into every holiday and we hit the jackpot here! We could have stayed in that pool with that view and the massage jets and waterfalls all day. We used the pool, gym, sauna, steam room and plunge pool everyday and it left us feeling a million Swiss Francs!
We had one magical day of snow and every other day was clear skies and sunny!
We ate at the hotel restaurant every night and it was so great. Beautiful fresh produce and so well cooked. And we LOVED the breakfast everyday. Your own little selection at your table and order whatever you want from the breakfast menu - perfect! It really was dreamy to sit there looking over that view and we did linger every morning soaking it all in.
We explored Lucerne which is beautiful and found a health/wellness club where the locals go which was great {we were warned by our Swiss friend about the nudity so we weren't too shocked by that! Ha!} we explored Mt Titlis which was gorgeous and we have a loooooong list of places to explore when we head back next year! It is a great base to explore from and we absolutely loved it!
Thank you Villa Honegg! We can't wait to be back.
