What People are saying
functional, with its own charm
Katrin Lon 12/08/2017 15:23Small room, and they insisted on some chartreuse-green color scheme which is not exactly my favorite, but OK. They make you leave your room key at reception, but reception is staffed 24/7. Curtains were a bit too thin to block the morning light. Good breakfast selection (the muesli, among other things, was excellent!), even if the breakfast hall is in a windowless basement. Very helpful staff. Nice touch that free public transport tickets are included. Bus right around the corner, short trip into the center. You need to pay for parking, and an elevator takes your car down into the garage. There is free coffee/tea from a decent machine in the lobby; they even offered us free bottles of water when we checked out.
Friendly and Helpful Staff in Great Location
reedaroundon 01/08/2017 21:02Smart and stylish hotel about ten minutes walk into the #aldstadt. Friendly and helpful staff arranged an afternoon outing for us. Easy access to transportation. Hreat breakfast. Fabulous visit. We will return.
Convenient hotel on tramline to historic center
DonnaCHon 25/07/2017 03:08We stayed here in early July. The location is good if you want to be a bit out of the city center and a tram will take you there in a few minutes. There is a great Italian restaurant across the street from the hotel. Our room was clean, reception staff was very helpful, the elevator was larger than some in Europe, and there were drinks and snacks available for purchase in the lobby. Breakfast was good and included in the room price. Underground parking is available for 17 CHF per night. Unfortunately, there is no AC or coffee maker in the room. We did get a fan to use. If staying cool on hot days is a priority, you might want to check other hotels. Our double room was very small, making it difficult to open 2 large suitcases and 2 small bags.
I would definitely make sure that room size is agreed upon when booking. A free transportation pass was provided when we checked in. This is a good budget hotel.
Great Choice and location
Jon Bon 08/07/2017 06:13The Hotel is located outside of the downtown, but the City center was only a 5 minute Tram ride (free transit pass provided for the duration of your stay). There are also restaurants and stores in the area and the Rosengarden park is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel, where you can get great city views. You can also walk down the hill to the City. The Lady at reception provided me with a map which she thoughtfully marked up with all the popular sights and offered several suggestions on how to enjoy the area. The rooms were typical European small size, but efficient and I was able to unpack my cases and get organized. it is a budget hotel but it offers a good Breakfast and safe, secure and clean accommodations. The staff were great and although there is no A/C, I was given a fan to use on request. I would gladly stay here next time I visit Bern...one of the world's great cities.
Nice Stay
Nuts4TravelSeattleon 06/06/2017 04:26I stayed here in May 2017. The location is right near a tram line which was handy to get into Bern city center (only took a few minutes). A free transportation pass is given to you at check in. Hotel was quiet and the room was a decent size. Bathroom was very modern and clean. There are a couple of restaurants nearby. Staff was friendly and helpful. I got a map and great instructions on where all the sights were when I checked in. The breakfast had many options to choose from. There are even apples available in the lobby. Overall good stay and I would recommend Hotel Waldorn.
