bakshisauravon 19/08/2017 14:46Whistling Woods owned by Hemant Ogale an avid photographer and naturalist. He is also the best guide available in Amboli and has wide knowledge of Western Ghats ecology & biodiversity. He is one of the co-founders of the Malabar Nature Conservation Club, that works on improving awareness of the area’s biodiversity among locals, and on in-situ conservation of species such as the Malabar Gliding Frog. Don't miss to check out his enviable collection of butterfly images.
They don't have kitchen, hence for meals, you need to tell them in advance and they will arrange for it
The best in Amboli!
Sachin_Rai_FBon 26/07/2017 14:25This was my second visit to this place and it is surely one of the best places to stay in Amboli. Mr. Ogale who runs the place is very accommodating and a gentleman.
The food is incredibly good. The rooms are large and well kept. The bathrooms have a small geyser and works well. The entire room can get moist in monsoons, because of the constant rain and fog. In spite of that, the property is maintained well.
I would highly recommend this place.
Peaceful and friendly place in Amboli
Shashikson 31/01/2017 13:55Beautiful and clean rooms. Friendly staff. Location is so good that you can just walk over like 1-1.5 kms and reach some really scenic village spots around it. The owner is a professional wildlife/nature photographer whose work you can see in the main reception area. Lots of books about the regions and India also placed there if you are interested in reading them. Decent quality and prices for the meals provided. Definitely a place to consider if you visiting Amboli
Leave only footprints Take only memories....
swamyekon 27/12/2016 02:11Visited on 22 Dec 2016 with family. Chose this place after doing a lot of survey on tripadvisor.
Whistling woods is strongly recommended for nature lovers. It was nice to interact with the well known naturalist Mr .Hemanth Ogale and award winning photographer Mr. Shubam.
The rooms are located in a serene place concealed by trees. A small but well maintained campus. A library with collection of good books is a unique feature.
If you wish to go for nature trail please visit this place between June to September.
Nice and comfortable for families
Dr. Ravikiran Son 20/10/2016 04:47After reading reviews in TripAdvisor we booked this place to stay at Amboli. We were 2 couples and 1 child. Online booking was for one room only, so we called up the hotel and booked an extra room directly without advance payment. The owner is very nice and arranged for transportation from MADGAON railway station. The local and return transportation was also arranged by him. The location of the place is close to the main road, setting very nice with lots of greenery around. The food available at the nearby MTDC resort restaurant is very good. The toilet is very clean. The place adjoins a thick forest through which passes a local road. It's a lifetime experience to walk on this road early morning hearing the sounds of chirping birds and frogs, actually whistling trees, flowing streams, watching colorful butterflies on equally colorful forest flowers. I am not sure if the setting will remain so during summers. The MTDC guesthouse and forest Park are 100-200 meters from this place. The waterfall, viewpoints, hiranyakeshi temple are all local areas around and are superb.
Not that the place didn't have drawbacks. The geyser was not working in one of the rooms, there are few mosquitoes resistant to all out liquid repellent and petty things like this which doesn't really matter. In a place like this, in the midst of a jungle, to provide the basic stay facilities is a great task and a service for the public. Kudos to the owner.
