One day, Varvasvata, the seventh incarnation of Manu found a tiny fish in his bathing water. The fish told him to look after it with devotion as one day it would do him a great service. The seventh Manu cared for the fish till the day it grew so huge that he released it into the sea. Before departing, the fish warned Manu of an impending deluge when the entire world would be submerged and bade him to build a sea worthy ark. When the flood came, Varvasvata and seven sages were towed to safety by Matsya, the fish which is regarded as first avatar of Lord Vishnu. As the water subsided the seventh Manus ark came to the rest on a hill side and the place was named Manali (2050 m) after him.

As the flood slowly dried, here arose a place of breath- taking natural beauty which was only appropriate at Manali that life began again. Today this legendary cradle of all human kind is a prime holiday destination. There are high mountains surrounded by snow and deep boulder strewn gorges. There are thick forests full of cool breeze and bird songs. There are fields of wild flowers, small picturesque hamlets and fruit laden orchards.
For sheer luxury, nothing in Manali can surpass HPTDC Log Huts. Here is a blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. About 2 km away from Manali, the Log Huts and Hamta Cottages are set in glorious surroundings with the best view of the snow capped peaks.

What People are saying

Best place to stay

Rajm133on 28/06/2017 12:45

The premium log huts, make you forget the rest of Manali crowd, traffic etc. The view of river, surrounding deodars , spacious complex is something difficult to get in new properties. Service is good. The huts had kitchenette attached, which was a bonus.

Charming with a view, but old cottage

Natasha Bon 05/06/2017 15:33

We stayed in LogHut #2. It was very charming cottage (2 BHK). Water is centrally heated. Staff were very responsive and quick.

Room service:
stuffed paranthas, boiled eggs, roti, Dal, subzi, cha, ginger honey tea. All decent reliable dishes.

Facilities:
The carpet, beds, bathroom and kitchen are very dated. But, it really didn't matter because the view outside made up for it all.

The bonfire, garden and swing were just adorable. And bettered the experience.

Improvement opportunities: One note is that the sheets didn't feel fresh and clean. Some had stains in it. Would recommend they actually throw those sheets and blankets out and purchase new ones.

Also, the HPTDC should invest in upgrading the bathroom facilities and updating the decor/furniture of the bedrooms and hall.

Outstanding hospitality

Stayed at the adjacent HPTDC Orchad huts and it was exquisite. Rooms were very large and ideal fit for two families since there are two bedrooms. The hospitality is outstanding and they really take good care of you. The place is serene and has good views of the moutains above and the Beas below.

Planning a trip to Manali in the winter in the next couple of years and would surely stay at the HPTDC huts.

Sense of Nothingness will fulfill the Serenity

We are at the lap of Mother Nature. Age old pine trees (Deodar, as it is called in local) embrace us within the cozy corner of the mountain top. Log Hut, synonym to absolute peace, offers a perfect tranquil to us. We stayed five nights. It was fantastic. Usually a hut is having 1) two bedrooms with double bed and attached bathroom, 2) one drawing cum dining room, 3) one store and 4) one kitchen. The space around the huts is enough to stretch our legs and bonfire at night.

Excellent scenic beauty and comfortable stay!!

We were 2 couples but we had a great time staying at this place. The food is very average may be because we went in an off season time. Light is a concern as they dont have power backups but since we encountered it only once and that too for a very short while i wont hold that against them. The early morning views are amazing and breath taking. I went with my 7 yr old pet and he had a lot of space to roam around which was awesome. Its a little far from the hustle bustle of Manali but very well connected. The fireplace outside in the evening was lovely but very costly so check on that before you order. I loved my stay here and have made some beautiful memories for life!!
