No doubt what they paid is far less than what we paid them for booking this !
Room was perfectly adequate if simple
Good shower for example
Dinner was good - excellent trout - really very good - and Paela
Hammered the wine cart too and some very good Pomerol for €25
Hard working receptionist come bar maid come waitress - seemed to do everything
Recommend although is out of town and if want to enjoy the lovely town centre maybe other places to stay
Faulty Towers in France
Donald Fon 17/01/2015 18:38Stayed here to cycle Col de Tourmalet. Basic hotel but cheap. Made mistake of having a dinner which was not repeated. Old toasted bread for breakfast when there was beautiful fresh bagettes down the road. Great position - but there better places to be in Luz. Colourful staff
Perfect cycling base, and friendly hotel

The lady who helped a very poor French speaker check in was lovely, and gave me some terrific information about the road to Col du Tourmalet which is damaged from flooding. Breakfast was good - breads and cheeses as you would expect. The view from the small balcony overlooked the river gorge, with zipliners shooting their way across the chasm. Parking was free and easy on the street. The sound of running water everywhere. I really liked this little hotel, and was an easy and direct ride up to Luz Ardiden and the Tourmalet.

Julia Lon 15/09/2012 09:08Average place to stay - convenient for cycling in Gavarnie. However, lampshade missing on bedside light, showerhead fixing broken, VERY HARD BED AND PILLOW!!!! This was disappointing and I think we will choose another hotel for our next visit.
Suggested for location and price
Martins Pon 07/09/2012 11:37This is a place to stay if you want to discover hiking trails, waterfalls, lakes and thermal spas in the region. Hotel is located some 800 meters from village centre where you can walk to buy fresh food. Village center is located on one bank of river but hotel on other bank of this river. You will hear how water passes by rocky bed of this river creating very nice, calm atmosphere. Rooms are spacious, TV small and have TV channels only in french. Rooms should be refurbished, however they are still clean and pleasant to stay in. Everything in bathroom was operating well. Staff at reception did speak English. Very few cars passes hotel in night, so road noise won't bother you.
Gavarnie waterfall (the highest in France) is half-hour drive away to South, but popular Thermal Spa is located just some 300 meters away from the hotel on the same road.
If it is getting late and you are out hiking, I suggest to return to hotel and eat in their restaurant - food has good price per value ratio (3 course meal 16 Euros) and it seemed that also many locals drive there to have a dinner. If you are having dinner outside hotel then driving a car on these roads in night can turn out to be rather hard because these roads in mountains lack light reflective studs or marks.
