Awful - a safety risk & needs a full refurb
MatW_2010on 16/07/2017 13:50This hotel is a disgrace. There is nothing positive that I can say about it at all.
All areas are dirty, including the stairs and landing by the rooms. My room had pieces of carpet missing, broken plug sockets, a blocked drain in the shower - I could go on...
The hotel doesn't have any air conditioning and the beds had the thinnest mattresses I've ever seen.
I've honestly stayed in better hostels (at half the price).
You get what you pay for
jamyl3689on 22/05/2017 18:06room was relatively clean - except the bathroom, which had mold in the shower. The breakfast was good. Close to Metro, but not close to any Paris attractions. The best part of the hotel is the very nice man at the front desk, who does not speak English very well, but works hard to communicate, is knowledgeable and very polite. but it is decent lodging if all you want is a place to sleep at a relatively low price for Paris
Not worth one star
Adam Fon 22/05/2017 16:20No one is under the illusion that Hotel Cactus is anything more than a budget hotel, but its description on Google as 'down to earth' understates the sheer unpleasantness of this grotty hotel. Certainly the worst hotel I've every stayed in, and it wasn't particularly cheap either. Here's the highlights -
The Hotel Itself:
- Pealing wallpaper, stains on surfaces and loose electrical sockets are common in the lobby and stair well.
-Decor is lifted from the 1930's
-A broken part-dismantled shower greets you on the first floor of the stairwell. No attempt has been made to conceal the substantial mess.
The Bed Room (Double):
-Decor again is dated and unwelcoming
-Bed is fine, but very basic.
-Double bed with only two low-quality pillows and a single(!?) feather pillow
-Carpet covered in cigarette burns
The Bath Room:
-Hair dryer is extremely old wall-mounted device with frayed electrical wires sellotaped together.
-Toilet is not bolted down correctly so moves when sat upon
-Toilet has cracked cistern
-Toilet seat is made of flimsy plastic
-Sink is not correctly attached to wall and is visibly leaning downward
-Taps are corroded with bronze showing through the silver plating
-Tiles are cracked, dirty and have multiple holes where old mountings used to be
-Towels consist of two small, thin bath towels and a smaller hand towel intended for placing on floor (there is no bath mat to prevent you slipping when exiting the shower)
-Shower is extremely basic and it appears the shower head was attached to the outlet via a garden hose
Breakfast / Dinning:
-The free 'breakfast' consists of little more than low quality bread rolls and croissants with butter and jam (nothing else is offered, no cereal, no yogurt, nothing) with coffee or orange juice.
-No table service
-Breakfast is self-serve, with the service area being in a small cramped utility area containing the dishwasher and sink
average hotel
niveditharao14on 02/05/2017 09:21This hotel is just 2 kms from Eiffel tower and I do not recommend this one . Even though it is cheap and provides complimentary breakfast , it neither good rooms nor good food . The building is very old and the room is too small for 2 ppl to stay even for a night .
Very cheap!
RhodriT1on 31/03/2017 11:07I stayed here about 6 years ago and it was quite run down and scruffy then. I stayed again recently and it looked like nothing had been done to it in the meantime so it was even more run down and scruffy. It was convenient for where I was going and was very cheap so that was why I stayed there, but I think I will pay a bit more in future and stay elsewhere.
