We loved it, quite basic but very clean and well run absolutely perfect for what we wanted. Breakfast was lovely and again great service. Just a few minutes walk to the canal and the The Loire river made it a perfect overnight stop. Without doubt we will be back

This establishment, situated a short walk from the town centre and not far from the railway station, does not look that appealing from the outside. The veranda and steps up to the reception are in need of a make-over and indeed the reception area is not that inviting. However, our room situated across the courtyard and on the first floor has obviously been upgraded recently. The beds were very comfortable, the room very clean and the bathroom sparkled with new tiles and an impressive shower.A lovely garden at the back of the hotel was a perfect spot to enjoy sun-downers in the heat of the summer. Breakfast the next morning was standard French fare. What tipped the scales was the charming and helpful attitude of the manageress who went out of her way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

We had an enjoyable night at the Hotel le Cerf in the family room. Great big bathtub, generous bathroom and plenty of room. Happy that the windows opened for a breeze (it was hot, hot that week). We sat outside on the back patio and drank a bottle of wine in the evening and had a nice breakfast in the morning. The hotel is also well situated for a couple of good restaurants nearby.

We didn't have high hopes but pleasantly more comfortable than we expected. Steep stairs so pleased we were only on 1st floor. Nothing flash but all you need. Lovely bath and large room (23) short walk from train station and close to town restaurants, small supermarket and locaboat base. Owner happy to hold our bags after checkout. Pleased we arrived day before our boat date as Briare an interesting small town.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel le Cerf for 3 nights before and after a boating holiday in the area. We made a very good choice. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the staff were friendly and helpful and the place was conveniently located for the town centre with its bars, restaurants and other facilities.
We arrived at Briare by train from Paris and the hotel was a relatively short walk from the station, easily manageable with our suitcases.
We stayed one night in the annex where we were disturbed by noise from some other guests, but this was clearly not the hotel's fault!
