We were looking for a hotel at the last minute to tour around Arles, Baux and perhaps St Remy but didn't want to break the bank. Hotel des Echevins had availability at a good price (80 euro vs the 150-600 euro we were seeing in the area,) so we tried it.
The common areas look quite nice. The entry and staircase are beautiful (just like the photos.) There is a lift to get to the rooms. The receptionist spoke French and English, was helpful and polite. Free parking can be found 'on the street,' but it's very full and frustrating driving around. Good news! The hotel has a safe garage right across the street for 5 euro--the receptionist went with us to guide us to and let us into the garage.
The room (we did have a superior) was quite large with a comfortable bed. The decor was a bit sparse and the bedspreads not quite as bright as the online photos, but perfectly servicable. The walls are thinner than I expected so you may hear your neighbors, but we were there for one night so we didn't mind. The room had a large shower with a rain head and no issue with the water pressure.
The hotel does a 10 euro breakfast (a bit expensive, but good): coffee, tea, orange juice, baguette, croissant, jams, yogurt, pancakes, cereal, ham, salami, cheese and they have a vat of boiling water for you to boil your own egg.
The Echevins doesn't have an evening restaurant, but directed us to The Mistral, next door. The food was quite nice an worth the stop. This restaurant could do with playing music during the evening hour and periodically it seemed "bathroom smell" would waft into the dining area (which is strange because the bathrooms are spotless.) I think perhaps they have rooms/sinks/toilets that don't get used a lot so the traps start to smell. This restaurant and the hotel could do with running water in all the rooms to help prevent this problem.
Wifi worked well in our 2nd floor room. I'm told signal strength decays the higher you go.
As a bonus the town of Tarascon has a lovely castle 800m down the street from the hotel to tour. There's also a fashion textile museum in town. I didn't feel unsafe in Tarascon, but, full disclosure, there are young men loitering on the streets periodically looking dodgy. It's a small town. Perhaps that's the "night out?" This hotel was totally worth the stop and priced right for what it offers.
Don't expect the moon, but the bed's comfortable.

Perfectly acceptable hotel

We were in Tarascon for a wedding and it was a first visit to Provence. We had a lovely room at the front of the hotel on the first floor - quiet enough at night when the windows were closed. Comfortable bed and very clean. Would benefit from tea/coffee making facilities. Very good breakfast for around 10 Euro. We arrived in the area by train and an easy 10 minute walk from the station. Tarascon is very quiet - some restaurants near the train station but little else. A bar owner advised us to drink up at 2015hrs with a sleep action. The restaurant attached to the hotel was good and the English speaking chef was very happy to explain the menu to us. I found out too late for our trip that Beaucaire just over the Rhone is a better bet for restaurants/bars.

First visit to Tarascon

This hotel was one of a few accommodations listed as a base in order to attend a wedding. First impression it looked nice, clean and welcoming. The receptionist was friendly, helpful and spoke good English. As there was a party of us, we were placed on two different floors which wasn't a problem. Our room was spacious, the beds were comfortable. The only downside was on entering the bathroom, there was a smell like an open drain which fortunately disappeared after a while. Another thing that would have been nice to have in our room is complimentary tea/coffee making facilities, especially after a long journey. Our room was on the third floor facing the main road although the traffic was barely noticeable at night. The windows had shutters if you wanted to shut some of the noise and light out. The bathroom was okay although the water pressure on the shower could be improved as it wasn't very strong. The wi-fi strength could also be improved as it was a little slow especially on the third floor - the best place to pick up the wi-fi was on the ground floor. I cannot comment on the breakfast as we only booked room-only but apart from the minor problems we had an enjoyable stay in Tarascon.

Deceptive photos

This place is gross and the staff is dismissive. We arrived late at night and though we were told there was free parking nearby, it took us ages to find some. Everywhere was seedy and dangerous with scores of young men wandering about.
The room itself was worse than a college dormitory, with God awful bed spreads, that were not white as the photos would have you believe. They were a dingy, stained red floral pattern and it was awful. The beds were hard and we itched the entire night.
The next morning we cancelled our second night here and when we told the management about the problems with the room, including the stains on the beds and walls, as well as a broken and dangerous shower tile, the woman was rude. She kicked the tile in, though it did not fit, and complained about us in french, thinking we didn't understand her.
Overall, horrendous. Do not ever recommend. Don't stay here.

OK for 4 nights

We booked here as a "plan B" because our regular hotel was fully booked, and we had left it a bit late.
It was clean, well decorated, and ideal as a base to operate from.
However, our room at the back of the top floor was noisy at night from street activity below (and a loose manhole cover that "clik-claked" every time a car went over it) and was overlooked from across the street from a roof garden.
Staff were friendly and efficient, the lift worked, and access was always available up to midnight.
Parking was a nightmare, ie. non existant unless you paid €5,00 per night with very limited access timewise.
Will probably look for a plan C next time, or book well in advance for our regular place.
