Don't underrate the restaurant!
Gillie Hon 01/05/2015 14:12We recently enjoyed an outstanding Sunday lunch at Monform's restaurant. It was a lovely sunny day and we were lucky enough to be seated at a window with a view over the lake. Tables were beautifully laid with fresh flowers and the special set menu at 29 euros was no less attractive. My husband began with Foie Gras while I began with a Duo of salmon and green asparagus. The main course choice was between leg of lamb and a cod Rossini - we had the fish which was beautifully cooked and presented. The next course was a selection of three local cheeses followed by a stunning selection of the chef's best desserts - delicious!
There is a good wine list and the service was excellent
Fine for a few nights
PurpleEllenon 03/01/2015 23:43A group of us stayed as we were attending a local wedding. The room was clean and good a few days. Not exactly welcoming but easy going. You can walk in to town too. Wifi didn“t work at first but was resolved. Breakfast basic.
Quirky...
Toccoferroon 14/09/2013 18:22Tried to book online directly with the hotel and they were 'full' but did it via central Logis reservations and, magically, they had somewhere! It was like a ghost ship when we did arrive. Were the management trying to have a break? Locals came in for coffee/drinks and there were some pretty unusual people there. Entertaining.
The arrangement is very quirky - mini bungalows across a site. We had an adapted one closest to the central hotel where the restaurant/bar and gym are. Additional charges to use the gym and pool.
The Manager was sweet; if you want anything other than 'the norm' you need to speak French. Luckily we do. Our price was E100 for demi pension & was brilliant value. The choices for demi-pension were v limited - especially for the none-dairy...but they rose to the occassion pretty well and we had a good dinner which included some wine.
The bungalows are a little sparse and feel 'cold'. Beds barely OK. I've slept in worse - but not too many. Logis usually do better on beds. Rating would have been v good with better beds :(
Adapted bathroom fine - but no seat for the large shower and quite a slippy floor.
The breakfast was great. The best bread and croissants we had in 21/2 weeks in France - great!
Staff were sweet and willing - and that covered many cracks. We tried to stay elsewhere eg the Moulin - but they never troubled to answer the e-mail.
It wasn't anything special but it did the job nicely
Sarah Fon 19/02/2011 01:32My boyfriend and I were also cycling through France and chose to stay here mainly because of the price and becasue it was within our daily cycling limit.
It is a bit of a strange place, not really something to get excited about but we had a good stay. The bungalow we had was a 2 bed with a large bathroom which wasn't necessary but it was welcomed. The main buidling where you have your meals if your too tired to cycle anywhere else had a nice relaxed feel to it and a nice garden area where you could lull the away the last few hours of daylight.
I wouldn't go out of your way to stay here but it is value for money and nice place if you're in the area.
Good facilities
Blackcat2yorkon 17/09/2010 18:20We were pleasantly surprised by the Hotel Monform. We were on a cycling tour so did not want somewhere too far from the centre of this lovely village but the Office de Tourism lady was very helpful and discussed a number of options with us and made several phone calls. We eventually decided on this Logis hotel. It was a shortish bike ride away from the centre and we were able to walk back a quicker route - about 15 mins. The rooms are all set in blocks in the grounds but quite comfortable and clean, almost like small villas with a seating area outside shared by around three rooms. The staff were very helpful, storing our bikes in a secure area. We enjoyed a good breakfast. There was free wifi in the main building. There is also a small pool and gym which we believe you have to pay to use, and the lake is adjacent to the hotel.
