What People are saying

Beautiful place and view

Karin Hon 28/05/2017 17:07

My Mom and I spend 4 days in the hotel which is directly located at the Fleesensee with it's own small beach and a nice quite garden to sit outside and enjoy the amazing view over the Lake and the even more amazing sunset on a clear day.
The hotel is around 8 years old and the facilities are well maintained. The rooms are spacious as so are the bathrooms. Must book a room with Lake view.
The breakfast buffet fulfills all wishes. For the dinner we enjoyed always a table at the FineArt restaurant.
The menu has a lot of choices and dishes are make with regional meat or vegetables.
The portions are big and all food we tasted was upmost delicious. Also the variations of wine and beer, also with some local specialties is big.
The spa and gym is also well maintained and gives many opportunities to relax.
All service personnel is very friendly and attentive.
The only annoying point is that nobody is there to help with the baggage at arrival and departure.

Very good for a weekend getaway

Nice room with a view, very friendly service, rich breakfast buffet and a good wellness/spa area to enjoy! Go for a refreshing dip in the lake right in front of the hotel!! We definetely recommend it.

Nice getaway for a weekend

I´ve been travelling with a friend to enjoy some relaxing days in the countryside. We haven't been disappointed yet it wasn't a full four stars experience either.
The hotel is nice and clean, but as well feeling cold in the dining areas. There are only less decorations which would it make cozy; and that while you are enjoying a stunning view on the lakeside!
The Spa itself had only less relaxing areas after using the sauna and the watertemperature in the pool is quite cold.
On the other hand the staff was very, very helpful and the rooms itself have been a pure joy. We had amazing sit outs on the balcony while whatching the sunset and slept like babies. So the hotel & spa area fullfilled the full purpose we booked in in the first place.

4 stars is not for everyone

FuxieDKon 31/03/2015 09:26

Maybe we cannot get the stick up, far enough in the behind, but we cannot enjoy this many stars..

Restaurant/bar:
- Eating areas are over crowded with staff, eager to help, leaving the rest of the hotel void of staff.
- Stylish decor, leaves no room for cozyness, so it appears cold.

Spa:
- First day, the pool was cool (guessing 24-25 degrees). This was manageble, but not satisfactory. Second day, the pool was cold (max 23 degrees). Very very bad experience. It's resonable to expect a pool is 26-27 degrees.
- Changing/shower room for the spa-area have lockers. However, the lockers require a €1 coin to lock. Travelling without cash, it's hard to cram in the credit card in the locker. It took 5 minutes to find someone, to give you a token-coin for the locker. That token should have been present in the hotel room.
- Sauna Garden was outdoor temperature (approx 5 degrees), so the stay here was less than 5 seconds. Not much sauna in that.

Room:
- Internet not working the first day. Not at checkin at 15:00, not at bedtime at 22:00. Internet did work on day two and three, but was slow... Not satisfactory, when they use free WiFi as a selling point.. It MUST work!
- Beds are soft and top mattress even softer. This means you sink in deep and your spine gets an unnatural shape, which ultimately means your slepp is interrupted as you twist and turn in your sleep. A hotel with this many stars, I would have expected to have hard mattresses. Also, once more, even when ordering a double room, we got a room with twin beds. Twin beds might be OK for business-people sharing a room, but for a couple on a romantic getaway, twins beds ruin all fun..

All in all, we're done with 4 stars hotels. It's not the first time, we have been disappointed, but it will be the last.
Two stars cozy hotels, here we come.....

Not really 4*

Nicola Don 20/10/2014 17:03

I stayed here for a week with my husband. We wanted to relax and also go on cycle tours. It is a four star plus hotel, so we expected a four star plus experience.
The area is very nice and you can go on long walks or cycle tours even combining a cycle tour with a boat trip. They have a very good spa with a nice swimming pool and nice saunas, although the saunas weren't as hot as they said. Even so, the wellness area really is very nice and very clean, so there is definitely no need to go to the Fleesensee Spa in the town.
The rooms are very nice and have a good view over the lake if you take one of the lakeside rooms. The rooms are kept very clean, especially by the lady wearing black clothes. She even washed up our mugs which we had brought with us. A soap dispenser is in the bathroom and shower. There are also three little bottles: one small shampoo, one small wash gel and one small lotion. I am not really sure why these were there because there was only one of each, so only for one of us and if you used them they were never replaced?!
The beds are extremely comfortable and I couldn't complain about the Wlan, which was excellent. The tea making facilities are only in the superior rooms on floor 4 -5. I always think this is a shame in German hotels. Usually there are no tea or coffee making facilities and only having them in the superior rooms and then not always refilling them.... and using a very small kettle, where the lid was broken is not a four star plus service.
It was the small things which irritated us in this hotel, but small things quickly add together and they are things which really aren't necessary and can be quickly resolved.
1. Although the ships were still sailing by there was absolutely no information laid out as to the timetable. Due to the fact that the season was over the timetable was on a weekly basis. We only found out on a cycle tour that there was a timetable for that week. Easy to print some and lay them out at reception. Also, although there is a shutlle bus which goes around the town there is no timetable lying out for that either. We had to ask for one and the receptionist dug it out of a draw. I am sure more people would use the bus if they had a timetable to hand. If it was also lying out at reception.
2. There was often a broken milch jug on our table - chipped.
3. The flowers were the same all week and on the last couple of days the leaves were yellow and limp. The flowers were dying.
4. On our first day there was sparkling wine for breakfast but this was due to the fact that the showers were cold on that morning and a lot of people had to have a cold shower (Me too). I think the heating broke down. I would have expected sparkling wine in a four star plus hotel.
5. The scrambled eggs were tasteless and the herrings salads always too salty. One morning I even had little stones in the fried mushrooms (This only happened once).
6. I didn't book half board because I had read a few reviews which weren't good and a few which were good, so I wanted to try the restaurant out when we got there.
We ordered starters and a main meal. The starter - a salad for me and an excellent fish soup for my husband. The fish soup really was excellent and my salad good. The "Grüß aus der Küche" was a small cold gazpacho soup was also excellent and the bread and spreads also excellent. I was really impressed and decided the many reviewers must have been making a mistake with the reviews about the food. However, when our main dish came things took a turn for the worse. My husband had fish and I had chicken in bacon. The sauce was too salty but that wasn't the problem. The problem was the chicken because it was chewy and - I really can't explain what it was but it certainly wasn't what I expected. It was just horrible. I didn't know whether it had just not been cooked properly or not, but then it would have been pink but it wasn't pink, it was more of a see through colour. I gave it back to the waiter who asked us what he should do. He asked whether the cook should put it back in the frying pan!!?? My husband said he should just show it the cook. Later I got a new plate of food. By this time my husband had finished his. The chicken was better this time but still very "plasticky" (I don't know how to describe it really). The waitress came to clear the dishes and she asked how it was and I said I really wasn't happy with the chicken. She was very apologetic and asked me if I would like a coffee. I said no, so she brought me some chocolates instead. A nice thought but a good idea would probably have been to say, "Can we prove that we can do better and invite you to a new meal tomorrow". We would probably have gone back and tried it out. Perhaps my meal was a one off thing. However, this didn't happen and so from then on we tried out another restaurant "Störtebecker" in the "Dorf Hotel", which we reached with the shuttle bus every evening. The food was excellent and we ate there every evening. They had the same wine - Sophie Helene, which only cost 6,50 for 0,25ml compared to 7,00 0,20ml. I think the price was much fairer at the Dorf Hotel because you can buy the wine online for just over 5 Euros, so this isn't a superior wine.
All in all we had a very relaxing week, which would have been nicer if these things hadn't happened or if the hotel management looked over things better. I once worked in a hotel and if I had put broken crockery on the table my boss would have told me a thing or two. If we had not changed the flowers on a regular bases also. The hotel where I worked as a teenager didn't even have any stars.
To be fair to the receptionist he listened to me at the end of the holiday and gave me a 20 Euro rebate, which was very kind of him, but more need to be done in a hotel, which calls itself a four star superior.
