What's not to like!
Helena Ron 28/08/2017 22:05As a mid priced hotel this was brilliant. The staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was spotlessly clean. There was a kettle and coffee and tea. When I asked for more coffee for the room this was no trouble at all. The bathroom was like a cabin within the room but with a big roomy shower in it. The hotel was a very short walk from the main road that has all the shops and pubs - Union Street. There was a Vue cinema 200 yards away. From our window we had a view of the end of the docks and some of the ships. The only slight downside was a lack of a car park. We had to use the NCP which was literally next door but at £16.50 for 24 hours (£5.50 discount for hotel guests with their tickets stamped) it wasn't cheap! I would certainly go back there if I was in the area again.
Very pleased
lyndad501on 08/08/2017 17:58Stayed from Thursday to Monday, room was clean, nice view, bed comfy. Breakfast in the mornings. Room was also quiet, had my 9 yr old with me and he enjoyed it. Reception were very helpful. So close to everything. Lovely maritime museum with free entry just across the road. Would stay again.
Short break in Aberdeen
mishkaminion 07/08/2017 20:24We booked the Ibis because of its location near train station and city centre .It was ideal few minutes walk from Union Street and opposite the Maritime museum. This was well worth a visit with good harbour views. The tollbooth museum was a few minutes walk right and was very quirky and interesting.
The hotel staff were very nice and the breakfast was excellent value and plentiful .We asked for quiet room with view and were given one on floor 4 overlooking the very busy harbour. We enjoyed watching all the sailings in and out of the harbour.Everything was very clean including the excellent bathroom pod and I liked the idea of £5 bar/restaurant voucher given if you didn't require your room cleaned. This was very welcome as the £7 for two small bottles of becks beer was rather expensive.
There is a large Wetherspoons a few minutes walk right and also a couple of other pubs .We even managed to sit outside in the sun.
Lots of the usual shops on Union Street but do venture behind the Main Street to see some lovely buildings. Its easy to walk to the sea front to blow the cobwebs away. The nearest parking is a car park next door which is discounted but still expensive.Glad we arrived by train.
If we return to Aberdeen we will stay at the Ibis again.
City break
JBM1960on 30/07/2017 08:44Ibis great value. This ibis very central to all amenities. Bit short on staff and people skills on arrival. We were told to wait while receptionist finished some business. Despite being well into check in time she expressed doubt over readiness of room - although it was ready. Apart from this the ibis devlivered on what was expected.
Longer than normal stay
135anthonyjon 30/07/2017 01:03Normally I arrive late; quick pint and natter with Night Porter then quick sleep and leave at 04:45. This time stayed for two nights; breakfast nicely cooked, not much dearer than 'greasy spoon' type caff, 'eat as much as you like' was really good value. Day staff really pleasant and friendly. Only minor faults were key card kept losing code, but as this always happened at doors to stairs in reception this was no problem, and if sat up in bed reading, the bed would roll away from the wall; again, no issue.
