quite possibly the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, coupled with the worst customer service I have ever received.

due to the legal case that will follow, there will not be too many details about the main incident, suffice to say that when a pregnant woman is injured in a hotel due to poor maintenance of said hotel, then an apology, even fake concern would be the least I would expect from staff at the actual hotel. A reply to the complaint about the incident would also be appreciated from "customer services" - we received none of those things.

as for the hotel itself, if the smell doesn't put you off then the spiders will. I'm not entirely sure what the overpowering smell of chlorine is an attempt to cover up - and I don't think I want to know - but it would be less conspicuous if there were a pool nearby. There is not, before you get excited.

the spiders - dozens and dozens of them - seem to quite enjoy the hotel. Maybe it's the amount of flies being attracted by whatever the chlorine smell is masking?

the bed appeared clean, but wasn't at all comfortable, and the pillows were as thin as a piece of paper.

just a pale imitation of what a hotel should be, and stuck in the middle of nowhere which your Sat Nav won't be able to find to boot.

Basic budget Ibis - in need of a re-fresh

From the dour receptionist on arrival to the damp and dreary rooms, not the best example of an Ibis and we've stayed in several. Toilet didn't work and when I dared to report it I was challenged with no hint of an apology. Ended up moving rooms. Had paid £100 room only for 2 x rooms for 4 if us. Neither receptionist I met was polite, friendly or courteous. No greeting on check in or check out. Sign of a bad hotel when the cleaners are the only staff to bother smiling. We worked in the industry so know had service when we get it. Convenient yes but rooms damp, tatty and basic. Ibis you can do better than this. Staff training on basic hospitality in the UK and a refresh of the rooms.

Worst Hotel Ever

If you are looking for a cheap, dated, damp hotel comparable to a 1970's holiday camp then welcome to the Ibis south Coventry.

The reception and bar are linked with the kitchens immediately behind. The aroma of cooking oil dominates the air.

Whilst the staff are pleasant you can't help but feel that you have walked into the twilight zone.

I challenge the CEO of Ibis to stay here for the night and experience what they expect paying guests to tolerate.

Needless to say once bitten.

My advise is find somewhere on late bookings or Trivargo and save yourself the pain.

Stop over to Scotland

Cheap but very worth while, food excellent, hotel clean and tidy as well as a comfortable bed!

Hot water for a decent pressured shower.

Although near the ring road noise is not a problem a very good nights sleep refreshed for a four hour drive ahead!

Walking distance to a good night out in Coventry City Centre.

Excellent value - and with simple touches

Booked as a 2 night stopover for a wedding venue 20 minutes away. Very convenient off main road network ( m40 London in our case). Sat nav with ease.
Arrived 9pm, needing food which was supplied but a little limited. However, great effort was made by single staff on duty.
Bedroom quite basic but all facilities in good order. Bed found to be very comfortable. All v clean. Room size better than expected. Great to see free wifi service. Also Ibis promise of service within 15 min of notice of complaint. We were missing hand towel and soap shower. It arrived in 10.
The real excellence in our opinion was breakfast. Charming modern dining area overlooking enclosed green tree site. But breakfast menu and presentation were faultless for £8.95 per head. Little touches made whole difference - helpful staff, the provision of soya milk( not in capsules but in a jug), yoghurt not served in pkastic pors but seoarate kilber hars, likewise with muesli in kilber jars, fresh fruit salad, ham cheese and hot options in tureens included sausage, scrambled egg ,tomato ,beans , mushrooms, bacon, croissant. Choice of bread jam etc finished off with machine brewed coffee tea. The servery was spotlessly maintained and cleaned. There was a real feeling of care and pride in their presentation. 5* to the staff and management here.
If visiting area or coventry would highly recommend here as an away from it all excellent value stay. Do need transport. Well done Ibis. Will deffo consider another booking
