We have visited Imatran Kylpylä Spa several times. This review is based on our (two adults and two teens) stay in May 2017.
We had a room in the wing named Promenadihotelli (Promenade Hotel). These rooms have double beds (or twin beds) and an alcove with bunk beds. You can get a portable extra bed, too. So these rooms can accommodate five persons. We had a non-smoking room but smoking seemed to be allowed on glassed balconies.
A bit over a year ago we were pleased with this type of room. They were just renovated and very stylish - and they still are. However, some minor details were already a bit worn. The lock of the balcony didn't work very well. The wash-basin of our toilet was grimy. The lampshade of our room was the worst part. It needs replacement.
Besides, our room was too hot. There were self-adjustable air conditioning machines both in the main room and in the alcove (the separate control knob of the alcove air conditioning was behind the curtain). However, they weren't powerful enough. The blowing power was too low. Perhaps it was centrally controlled due to the quite cold weather. After all we were pleased with our room. We had a lot of space.
In the summer time the location of Imatran Kylpylä Spa is excellent. It is only 400 meters to the sandy beach of Lammassalmi next to Hostel Ukonlinna and to the other direction along a walking path 400 meters to Lempukka Beach (read separate reviews, see Things to do in Imatra). It is less than 2 kilometers to Karhumäen DiscGolfPark and about 6 kilometers to Holiday Club Golf and Atreenalin Seikkailupuisto Saimaa (Atreenalin Adventure Park with climbing routes, see separate reviews).
We especially loved hiking. It is only 800 meters from the spa to the start of Lammassaari Island (read separate reviews) hiking route. This is the easiest hike and it is suitable for the whole family.
Imatran Kylpylä Spa is situated on the route of European long distance path E10. This hiking routes goes from Spain to Finnish Lapland. The total distance is 2880 kilometers but it is marked only partly. We especially loved hiking from the spa to Lempukka Beach, Hossukan Helmi and Strait Malonsalmi (two kilometers in one direction, this route is called Kylpylän luontopolku, the nature trail of the spa). On the way we saw beautiful lake views and several traditional boat shelters. From Strait Malonsalmi there is a wooden walking bridge to Malonsaari Island (read separate reviews). The nice hiking route around Malonsaari Island is about 3 kilometers. So the total distance of our hike The spa - Malonsaari Island - The spa was about 7-8 kilometers. If you don't go to Malonsaari Island, you can walk from Strait Malonsalmi ahead towards the city center and then to Ruokolahti.
We also hiked the E10 route to the southern direction from the spa: The Spa - Hostel Ukonlinna - Ukonniemi - Rauha - a walking tunnel under a road - Kärmehauta - Talviranta Beach (nice but rocky!) - Rauha railway station and then back the same route. This was totally about 13-14 kilometers. It is possible to hike ahead from Rauha railway station, to Joutsenranta, Lapinsuo swamp area and Hinkanranta beach in Joutseno. We didn't like this southern route as much as the northern one. In the southern part there aren't so natural paths. They are more like jogging tracks or narrow forest roads. However, these routes would be excellent for mountain biking with an MTB.
There are several activities for the whole family in Imatran Kylpylä Spa. We loved both bowling and swimming. Indoor swimming pools, saunas and the outdoor pool are very good. I have written about them in my earlier reviews. So I don't tell about them now. We highly recommend Imatran Kylpylä Spa.
More or less it`s ok

In general, everything is not bad, but I would say that furnishing is old-fashioned in this hotel and rooms are poorly cleaned. In the sauna you can not be in the bathing suits, you know why?)) So as not to break the Finnish tradition)))) iron argument)) The other problem is the absence of rosettes in the rooms, they are only in one place. The food is delicious, the staff is sympathetic.
Everything was good exelent !

EEverything was good - we got our students bracelets for 11 euros really fast, they have nice changerooms but first surprise was that they closed sauna for both men and women that day and it was really unconvenient. We go ahead of it and enjoyed our staying(they have swimming pools of diferent sizes and shapes, hamam, saunas, hydromasssages and open swimming pool, swiming pool with hot water) there until somebody stole my slippers.
Basic and average spa

My first stay at the Imatra Kylpylä spa. The location is perfect (nice, beautiful, quiet place). The room was clean (especially bathroom) and comfortable but a little bit oldish I think. Good breakfast but I expected more fruits. A lot of things to do (bowling, nature tourism, spa, dancing, wlan, gym). Especially for active holidays / persons.
