Perfect to visit Rome.
Tony Con 20/04/2017 18:48Imperial Rooms is a little b&b in front of colosseum, with a wonderful view of it, perfect to visit the archeological part of the city. The rooms are clean and beautiful, breakfast is very tasty. There are many restaurants near it, so, it's very easy to find a good dinner.
Clean, comfortable, good location but very noisy at night
Leonieruthon 16/03/2017 22:59We booked this hotel as part of a package. We chose it due to its proximity to the Colosseum and other must do attractions. After reading some of the reviews however we were a little apprehensive. On arriving the entrance is less than imposing, crammed between two cafe/bars and with only a very small brass plate advertising its existence. The reception office is on the ground floor but we had to go up to the first floor to find anyone to check us in. The big drawback to this hotel was that it was immediately above a bar which becomes extremely noisy at night, the worse being when they had either a live act or a karaoke night and the music does go on into the early hours. On checking in we were told that if we didn't like the music we could avail ourselves of the complementary earplugs! Our room, 102, was immediately above the bar and therefore extremely noisy. It was of an adequate size and the decor shabby chic. The bed was queen sized and very comfortable and we found extra pillows in the wardrobe. There is a scarcity of decent sized drawers but plenty of hanging space. There is a stocked mini bar, of which we did not avail ourselves, and a very small safe, locked with a key. Our window opened onto the front of the property and afforded a view of the ruins across the road and, if you looked to the left, of the Colosseum. The bathroom was small but adequate with a shower. Obtaining hot water, however, was a bit hit and miss and there were some mornings it was barely tepid. The room was spotlessly clean and was cleaned daily. A waste bin in the room would have been nice. Breakfast was very basic with a choice of baked goods, cereals, yogurt and fruit. This was adequate for us but if you like a huge cooked breakfast you will be disappointed. Breakfast was served in what appeared to have been a small bedroom converted into what can only be described as a kitchen, where the three tables could only seat eight people. But eight people in there all together would be very cosy. You have to wait for one of the staff to attend and operate the machine before you can get a coffee and quite often you need to go down to the office to ask someone to come up. From previous reviews, which state that breakfast was served in a nearby cafe, I wonder if the breakfast service is new to this hotel. The staff always appeared very friendly and helpful.
As close to the Colosseum as possible
Gaz1long1on 31/12/2016 08:36As a family of four (with 2 young children) we were keen to get a hotel close to the sites so that it minimised walking for tired little legs!...this hotel certainly didn't disappoint. You could see the Colosseum from our window as it was 100m away. There was a metro service across the road, taxi rank round the corner and the open top bus route next to the Colosseum also! The Roman Forum was also straight across the road so for location, I can't see any other hotel being better.
Rooms were renaissance period so looked nice, kids had bunk beds. Rooms were very spacious, clean and had air conditioning, fridge, safe, and ensuite.
On the bad side...rooms were really noisy at night as we were above a bar so heard the music, noisy patrons and the wardrobe shook every time someone in the adjacent floors walked!!
The staff couldn't be more helpful and I would say that the hour of late night noise was well made up for by their friendliness and helpful nature. They made our family feel so welcome.
Breakfast was basic but really nice, with a mixture of bread, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, hot drinks and juice.
Overall the location was second to none. If like us you are only there for a few days and will spend minimal time in the room and want something cheap and cheerful this is perfect.
Best location if you are in Rome for the historical Rome
LouiseRytzon 01/11/2016 11:10I would not compare Imperial Rooms to what we know as a regular hotel. It is a family driven establishment with very comfartable rooms, some with a view, some with a not so nice backyard view. Breakfast was a continental style, not what we Swedes are used to. We rather like Cheese eggs and vegetables. But as i knew about the breakfast i brought my own chees, and vegies. The Location was fantastic 150 m from Coloseum, Jumo on/ off bus just outside. A lot of restaurants and bars on the same street. Yes i would recomend the hotel for a short stay in Rome
Wonderful view.
