Excellent Short Stay

I stayed at the Inn two years ago and decided on a return visit.
We have two dogs and they have separate accommodation to the main hotel We ate evening meal and breakfast in the bar having the dogs with us. The staff are extremely helpful and the food was excellent. This is a very small village with access via single track roads. There are a number of local market towns within easy reach. It’s an interesting area to visit with numerous English Heritage sites.
Highly recommended
Walking with our dogs in stunning scenery

Our daughter & her boyfriend stayed in one room in the Stables; we stayed in another(York) with our 2 small dogs. It’s laid back - perhaps a bit too laid back in some instances! For example, we parked next to the stables where we’d seen others park. A local told us we couldn’t park there & if we left our car there, it could get towed away by an irate local with his tractor (can’t recall the name he gave). Why isn’t there a”No parking” sign, I asked, not unreasonably. “It’s not allowed in this National Park,” was the reply. All rather Royston Vasey, I thought. But I like a bit of quirky.
We had a really nice time & the food was good. The bed was clean & comfortable & we slept really well. Just don’t expect instructions- you have to ask. Lovely waitress & chef; very welcoming.

stayed for a couple of nights in the main building with my wife and 2 spaniels. never, ever, have i stayed at a more relaxed and chilled out place.
room was large and clean. bathroom was spotless and the wife loved the bath whilst i enjoyed the rainfall shower.
great selection of breakfast options and the evening menu was very interesting. we had pigeon, grouse, lamb and freshly baked steak and all pie. the only gripe was ‘NO MASH’ to soak up the lovely gravy from the pie!
very good selection of 3 real ales, not bad for a small inn in the middle of knowwhere!
we’d definitely stay there again

Stayed at the Hawnby Hotel on the recommendation of friends who had found the hotel by chance. What a joy!!! Fantastic autumnal scenery with an old style travelling inn found at the top of a hill. Roaring fires, lazy Labradors, good food - great little wine list - and all overseen by Mine Host, Dave - whose laconic Canadian style made it all look easy & kept us entertained all evening. A comfy bed and hearty breakfast and we were on the road again!
Will be back soon!

A nice quiet Inn in a lovely location with wonderful scenery. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room had a great view to the front and was pleasantly furnished with a not over modern appearance. Bed was large and comfortable. Nice en suite and the place was spotless. The food was excellent, mainly freshly made and tasty. It was a good central location for our needs and would definitely recommend and visit again in the not too distant future.
