What People are saying

Needs Improvement

I really hate to say anything negative about our favorite place to stay in Santa Fe, but I have to be truthful. We stayed here a week in July--our 4th stay at the Inn--and this time things simply weren't as good.
First, they seemed understaffed. The pool area had glasses and plates left around for hours, sometimes even after we'd gone out in the afternoon and come back in the evening. Likewise, room service trays were left out in the hall long after they should have been. And it took quite awhile for service in Del Charro. Either taking forever to get waited on, or waiting forever for the food, or both. Wait staff often seemed harried and tables were sticky to the touch. There also needs to be a better system for ordering at the pool. Sometimes a waiter comes out, sometimes you have to figure out how to enter the bar with a wet bathing suit. And the phone that is in the pool area, allegedly for ordering, just didn't work right.
Second, the Inn, at least in parts, needs a facelift. Spaces are looking tired. And the bathrooms really need help, especially the showers.
We still love its charm and location but there is a lot of competition in the area and the Inn needs to up their game. We will give it one more try and hope for the best.

I Love This Place!

TexasMom333on 15/08/2017 15:06

We have visited Santa Fe three times in the last four years and have stayed here each time. It's like coming home. Sharlene greets you at your car door when you arrive and your room is spotless and ready. Breakfast is included and offers 3 kinds of breakfast meats, two kinds of eggs, hash browns, fresh fruit, cereal, pastries, French toast, .... It's a great start to each day. If you book directly with the hotel, you are given a daily credit to the bar and restaurant. I crave the chicken green chili chowder available there and look forward to it for months before each visit. The hotel is 2 blocks from the plaza so it is the perfect downtown location. Parking is free, so that's another savings. There is a nice, small pool right off the lobby and we saw several children and adults enjoying it during our last stay. The lobby is cozy and complimentary sherry tastings are offered every afternoon. We meet other travelers and chat on the fluffy couches while we enjoy the sherry and sugar cookies. The rooms are comfortable in size and a large number have in room fireplaces. We would actually never stay any other place in Santa Fe if it was up to us!

Excellence with old fashion charm

Just want to mention how wonderful our stay at the Inn was. The old fashioned charm and decor, clean rooms and hospitable staff are always amazing. It is without a doubt our favorite place to stay when in town. We have tried other places but the charm is not there. They have a delicious breakfast buffet, for only $12, which is actually included in the room price and their bar has a great price point with delicious food. The house margarita is the best value in town! Lots of locals are found in the bar which make it fun.
Hats off to the Inn of the Governors

Great location and value

My husband and I recently had a last minute getaway and chose Inn of the Governors due to reviews on Tripadvisor. It was a great choice and so convenient to everything without paying other "On the Plaza costs". We had great parking and a very spacious room. The friendly staff and amenities were perfect. A lovely lobby with fireplace and delicious breakfast buffet is included. The pastries are light and fresh and the sausages and bacon is outstanding. The restaurant and bar also has a patio for great weather and was packed every night we were there. Good food at great prices. You cant do any better and still walk to the plaza.
