Room with a View

Room 4 perfect sunset view. Older motel reasonably priced. Be glad it hasn't been chicly remodeled or it would cost twice as much. Enjoyed pool, restaurant and bar on premises. Perfect 3-star experience.

Fine for an overnight place to rest our heads

We booked this despite some questionable reviews as it was the only one in the area we needed that did not cost a fortune and we just needed a clean place to sleep, Although not spotless we did not have an issue with the room. It was quite small, and had a small but working mini fridge with a microwave on top. My husband used the shower and said it was fine. The second story rooms do have a nice view but I was told I could not request it. We somehow lucked out and got one, even though we did not get there until 10 pm

There is a free continental breakfast that was not too impressive. There were 2 kinds of cereal, some bagels and pastries wrapped in saran wrap, some fruit and 2 containers of yogurt when we got there. For 7$ more we were told they could cook us something hot such as bacon or hash browns but we declined. There was a nice patio that we ate our breakfast on that overlooked the pool and the river.

Since we just needed an overnight stop it was fine, and I was not disturbed by the train noise that many have mentioned, perhaps it depends on the location of your room.

Should have insisted on a room with a view

It was a quick stop for one night. It's an old building but the room was very clean. Staff nice enough. Doors open to street. Room small but adequate. Bathroom very small. The building we were in did not have rooms with a view.

The good, bad and UGLY

TONYandMIMIon 20/06/2017 01:39

It looks cute when you pull up. We were two couples traveling (family) and we arrived at 3, check in time. We were told that there were only two rooms left and unfortunately, none had a view and that they were at EXACT OPPOSITE ends of the building! We made the reservations months ago, they were made as two rooms, one reservation. We were assigned the first floor and my sister was assigned the second floor. It was extremely inconvenient. So, why were all the other guests able to check in early...and they couldn't provide us with rooms in the same location? Miss managed. Also, our rooms were like night and day. I didn't know a room could be worse, until I saw my sister's room. She pulled down her sheets and found hair! She called and they had an attendant change them. She didn't have a closet at all, just a clothes tree/we had a small closet with a small fridge inside and microwave on top of it. Her refrigerator and microwave were on the floor between a dresser and a desk. Her bathroom was old and beat up. Ours had some newer towel racks and had a newer but horrible paint job. There were dead bugs on the window sill and we put the shades down right away because anyone walking by or driving around the back, could see right in. Oh, the noise! Not only from the train, but the cars from the highway. There happened to be some sort of an event with gospel singing. It was loud and we couldn't sit outside and relax or talk.
Big mistake to put two couples traveling together in two entirely different rooms! I saw that someone paid $100/night...we paid $200 each a night! The room was dirty in the corners and the walls. The only reason we stayed is because we had tickets to a concert at the Paramount Theater. That worked out great! We were able to walk to it and we stopped at a restaurant named Iron Vine, that was fabulous!
I use the shower, nor did my sister. It was just too gross. The guys didn't seem to mind, but were not happy about the condition of the rooms either.
In the morning, we decided to have breakfast at the hotel. We were told it was $5 or free continental. They had amazing pastries for the continental. I order toast, two eggs and potatoes and was charged $7. Worst breakfast ever. Cold toast, runny eggs and mushy potatoes. I didn't even order bacon or sausage, as did my brother in law and we got charged the same price. This hotel did not meet our expectations at all. It looks like it has potential. But not sure how you can get around the noise. I hope my sister posts her pictures, her room was pitiful.
I do not recommend this hotel. One star for location. The owners of this hotel should be embarrassed. I'm embarrassed that I stayed there.

Dated but not without charm

mrvic2015on 17/06/2017 20:09

The room was clean and comfortable but clearly dated with updates that were poorly done. The view is very nice but a train goes by on the hour, all night long, and has a 4 whistle cadence. It's not a horrible place to stay and for $109 I wasn't disappointed. The pool was green in the deep end but this is the beginning of the season and it was too cold for normal people to want to swim (but that didn't stop my 5 year old). I had a roll away bed with virtually no room to open it. The permanent bed had a sag in the mattress.
