Basic, but good.
Luke Mon 15/07/2016 12:23I stayed in the Cheval Noir during the Euros in June of this year.
I arrived at the hotel to be greeted by friendly staff who were very helpful with regards to location of the hotel and main square/stadium etc. Turned out to be very close to the main square and bars, 30 min walk from stadium so happy with the location.
Room was basic and the decor looked like it needed a touch up but this didn't bother me as it was just somewhere to sleep and shower before moving on in the morning. Very clean room, good shower facilities. My view from the window was the wall of the building next door, again didn't bother me but may bother others.
Pretty nice hotel in the middle of the city
Remo Ton 26/06/2016 18:52We've stayed there just for the night before the football game between Switzerland and Poland. They have been real good hosts. Recommended us good spots for having dinner and the next carpark without beeing asked.
We've booked the room with short notice. Booking, check-in and check-out have been very easy and without any problems.
The only point i would have to criticise is that I was not able to stand inside the shower as the room was just under the roof and so it was a bit to los to stand in this side of the bathroom.
But as we just wanted to stay for one night and we enthusiastically looked forward to the match, we didn,'t care about much.
Good location but...
Marcin Bon 14/02/2016 21:57I stayed in superior double room. It was incredibly small! Just enough space to walk around the bed. No heater in the bathroom made my shower rather unpleasant. TV with no BBC or other English news channels. Continental breakfast had the poorest selection I have ever encountered, even as for French standards. Generally unhappy with the visit. This was my sixth hotel in St Etienne and definitely not to recommend.
great location
Dro40on 17/03/2015 23:05Booked a group of friends. All agreed, location was best, in the middle of town. Lots of restaurants around, easy access to public transportation. The rooms were all different, some larger, some smaller. Not super clean, some hair visible. Left over food in the room fridge. Very friendly owners.
Really nice hotel, unusually friendly
marcduchesneon 08/10/2012 14:56Beautiful hotel, recently renovated. Large and quiet rooms, clean and luminous. Comfortable equipment, great breakfast, private parking.
Plus, the patron knows everything of his town, which helps business men or tourists...
