Had a wonderful stay
JGW33782on 17/02/2017 18:29We actually walked from the train station to this property. The staff of this hotel was extremely helpful. I loved the view from our room's window -- the Amboise Castle loomed as if it were right next door. Across the street was the river walk along the Loire River. Such a nice stroll. They had a restaurant at which we ate breakfast twice ... a bit pricey but then most restaurants had breakfasts close to the same price. This was one of our many experiences with a tiny, tiny elevator ... only two people could fit. We had to stack our luggage between us! If you stay, be sure to go to the Clos Luce, which is within walking distance. Also we ran into a Rick Steves' group so you know that this is a good hotel!

AllyGBrusselson 28/12/2016 20:14Awfully bland and expensive food in this dated hotel which reminded me of somewhere you'd rather not have wandered into in Clacton. The maitre d'hotel is extremely rude and unwelcoming. One of our group wanted to walk out but we stick it out for the rather forgettable main course.
A great place to stay!
rogerhQ8298CLon 22/11/2016 12:12The food alone makes a stay worthwhile! But a stay in Montrichard just adds to the value. I stayed for the local Touraine Primeur wine festival, and the garaging feature enabled me to hide my daily purchases, until fully loaded!

flowjistonon 19/11/2016 14:30Enjoyed our stay here, and will be going home tomorrow. Our room very good, bed comfortable, with nice bathroom and shower attachment. Food very good. Nice views over the Cher. Staff very obliging and helpful. Would be very happy to return anytime. Love the quaintness.
Location great, but...
GeeJay9on 27/03/2016 15:56Attracted by the location we overnighted here. Received by a morose elderly man of few words - none of them being 'welcome'. Took a room at the front overlooking the river, which was overpriced at €78, but had it been high season it would have cost €120. Rooms at the back are cheaper.The room itself was acceptable and the large bed comfortable. The restaurant is at mezzanine level and extends the length of the hotel, with views over the river. Two menus are offered, one being about €21 with choice of two dishes from the card, the other about €26 for three dishes. However, on closer examination of the card we found that any dish half-way interesting carried a supplement between €4-6, so that a meal of our choice would have cost very much more than the nominal menu price. Instead, we took a 3 minute walk upstream to a small square fronted by 3 restaurants - all with interesting menus at reasonable prices. We chose Les Tuffeaux and were not disappointed.
Parking at Le Bellvue is in the street out front or side-roads (but not in the blue-painted bays). Breakfast was buffet style - unremarkable and expensive. Presumably the hotel's delightful position ensures such a steady stream of clients that the management has decided that displays of hospitality are unnecessary and fanciful prices are justified.
