Mwah, a little bit dissapointed
yvettek54on 07/08/2017 09:30The price-quality rate was not so well. The assortiment of the breakfast was very poor. Around nine, almost everything was empty. Unfriendly people, maybe because my French was not good enough. The room was noisy, we heard the beds above us all the time.
Good clean stop off hotel when heading south
Neil Ton 30/07/2017 10:59Nice hotel, friendly reception staff, interconnecting rooms was good with 3 children. Pleasant dinner In restaurant. Helpful waitress and waiter. Breakfast cheap but nothing special.
We would stay here again.
Convenient for the station and a short walk from the historic centre, it's an adequate place to spend a night
jamescY5614NBon 25/07/2017 12:46The Good: Convenience. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Clean room. All basic requirements met. Adequate at the price and if all you want/need is a place to spend the night near the station, this is as good as it needs to be.
The hotel is opposite the station, but we heard no trains during the night. The old town is 10 minutes walk away either up the boulevard or through a beautifully laid-out park nearby with lake, fountains and topiary.
Private garage parking is available. It's an off-site costed extra 5 mins walk away. Local on-street parking has a rigidly-enforced 09:00 expiry time!
Not-so-good. Bed uncomfortable, though clean. Room very 'compact': 'no-bath-room' door catches on the end of the bed when opening. Poor water pressure meant shower was inadequate. 'no-bath-room' extractor fan whirring constantly. Disinterested breakfast staff.
Excellent stop off
Conor Ton 30/06/2017 09:25I stopped overnight on a last minute planned roadtrip to the Millau Viaduct and Gorges du Tarn.
It was a good basic hotel, the receptionist spoke English and was very helpful especially when I'd locked my key in my room. The room was nice and clean and the aircon was already running when I entered which was great as it was a baking hot day. The room came with a power block that had two USB charge sockets which meant I didn't need to use my adapters and internet connectivity and speed were excellent for a hotel.
10 minutes walk takes you into the old town where there are streets full of the expected French eateries so I used those rather than the restaurant, especially as I wanted to see the cathedral. I had breakfast in the restaurant and it was typical French chain continental style. My room was on the front of the hotel right next to and level with a street light but the curtains were sufficiently thick that the room was pitch black with them closed.
Parking is in the station car park directly opposite the hotel. The hotel has its own but the station is cheaper being free from 7pm-9am. I arrived at 5pm and it cost less than 2€, much cheaper than the hotel and even though my car was a convertible I felt safe leaving it there. The receptionist mentioned it was monitored 24/7. Also in the petrol station is a cash machine which thankfully didn't insist on doing its own currency conversion for Euros as soon as you stuck a British card in, something that is well welcome for seasoned travellers that use cards like Halifax Clarity or Revolut that offer excellent rates.
Within a few hundred metres is a Lidl supermarket and a petrol station so the following morning after breakfast I headed to both of those to grab some munchies and drink for my next leg and to fuel up the car.
It isn't perfect by any means but it is a clean, comfortable hotel definitely perfect for a short overnight stay.
Disappointing hotel experience
Joelle Gon 04/10/2016 20:34The hotel itself is right across from the station so handy for travellers arriving in Bourges by train however, if you are arriving with a tour bus it was very difficult to drop off the passengers and we had to park in the station car park and drag our bags to the hotel. The man at the reception was extremely rude and unhelpful and I must say that he is probably the worst desk attendant that I have come across in my travels across many countries. On the positive side, the young lady at the desk the following morning was very pleasant. Bourges is a very pretty town but this hotel was quite far from the centre. Breakfast was a disappointment as well.
