A delightful stay
Kevin Mon 14/09/2016 21:53As the hotel had some mixed reviews it is always a concern but what a delightful place to stay. From the moment I arrived the owner could not have been more helpful. Before I had even got my bags upstairs my bike had been locked away in the garage, which was reassuring.
My room was spacious, as was the shower room and toilet. Although it faced onto the main square I wasn't disturbed by noise, so had a good nights sleep.
Breakfast was the standard French hotel breakfast, so I wasn't disappointed. Plenty to eat and drink.
The hotel is ideally located for exploring this rather pleasant French town. If I was in the area again, it would certainly be my first choice for a hotel.
Centrally located
Pandemonicon 07/08/2016 18:06Like so many provincial hotels in France, the Chapon Fin has a vaguely musty smell on the ground floor, as though the property had been flooded and had never really quite dried out.
However, this doesn't apply to the upstairs rooms which are reasonably sized and very well equipped with numerous electrical sockets, so there is no problem in recharging your mobile phones, Ipads etc. Our room overlooked the main square, and there is free overnight parking there, and since the windows are double glazed there is no problem with noise, though I doubt if that is much of a problem in Moissac, except perhaps on market day.
What else is there to say? A reasonably priced room, fine for an overnight stop, with good wi-fi in the bedroom. Continental breakfast perhaps a little on the poor side - I don't remember seeing any cold meats, but that may just be my memory.
The owner himself is worth talking to. He has a great love of his town and knows its history inside out. Ask him about the 500 Jewish children who were given shelter in Moissac and hidden from the Germans and Vichy French throughout World War II. An amazing story that deserves to be better known. A town that kept a secret like this just has to be full of kind, decent people - like the hotel owner
Pleasant Surprise in Moissac Centre
helendc1on 06/10/2015 16:09Moissac is a major stop on the Chemin Saint Jacques. We stayed for 1 night on a cycling trip following the Canal which passes through the town. The hotel occupies a large part of the town square where there is ample parking. Nice room, clean and modern, excellent breakfast and good wifi. Definitely not just for pilgrims!
Always excellent
Christina057on 22/07/2015 21:11Really comfortable. Very nice hosts. Excellent food.always made to feel welcome. This is my favourite place in Moissac. I love it. It is so difficult to have a vegetarian meal anywhere in France. Here there is no problem even if you don't book. Wonderful.
Not the best choice
Manole Mon 21/07/2015 16:22There is no air conditioning in the room. The room is a little noisy and the internet connection is poor.
The restaurant is nice and the food in good. It is right in the town center but the town is not too big.
