Majestic Hotel
jeanpM5287WSon 06/06/2016 16:12This is a beautiful hotel placed in the centre of Chatelaillon. It is close to all facilities, such as public transport, town hall, media library, market, commerces, restaurant, beach, parc and casino. It takes 30mn to go to La Rochelle by bus. The railway station is only 5mn away. If public transport are being use, I would recommend an excellent bus service for its regularity and proximity. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A great place to stay.
Disapointed
derekh121on 03/05/2016 10:36Room was never fully serviced, no windows to open and outlook was a brick wall restaurant closed during our stay. Turned out to be a very basic hotel not what was expected for the price would not stay here again.
Pleasant three night stay
CaroleinStauntonon 08/01/2016 16:40The Majestic is an attractive building originally a Maison de Maitre from the 1930s. Our double "comfort" room was clean, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The reception staff were all helpful and friendly. Staying midweek in January we had no difficulty finding on road parking nearby and the town square always had spaces too. Free wifi was easy to access and self service breakfast fresh and tasty.
If you are inveterate tea drinkers you may wish to take your own tea bags and milk as we do, although kettle and mugs are in the room. We did not have dinner in the hotel as the restaurant was closed for January but there are plenty of good restaurants within 50 metres. The hotel is close enough to the sea front to hear the waves crashing on the beach at night - lovely!

Glenvaron 12/07/2015 22:26The hotel is evocative of the French Belle Epoque era in style and is reminiscent of a grand Parisian hotel, with a wide central staircase and high ceilinged public rooms. The staff we met were all young, extremely friendly and helpful, whilst speaking excellent English. Our room on the top floor was a disappointment, as it was very small and cramped (the bed occupying perhaps 70% of the room space) but we saw other rooms on lower floors that appeared to be much larger. The breakfast was a bit disappointing, as the food was basic, and the breakfast room is decorated in the style of the 1970s, complete with a large and noisy 1970s refrigerator in the room. We didn't dine in the hotel. The property could be transformed from a good hotel into a very good one with some sensitive refurbishment, yet preserving the beautiful architecture. The rather amateur paintings on the glass of the windows of the breakfast room contribute nothing, and rather spoil the place. A minor inconvenience is that guests have to change their WiFi codes every 24 hours and there has to be a separate code for each device. Nevertheless, we shall definitely stay there again.
comfortable and convenient
clareg419on 10/06/2015 18:54Lovely hotel, room just a bit noisy as by stairs. Otherwise clean and comfortable. Very central. Staff very friendly and helpful. Had breakfast which was fairly average. Parked right outside. Restaurant not open on Sunday night so not able to eat in evening.
