family holiday

Have been here a few times and its clean , and very friendly staff this a nice base and a very enjoyable holiday,
its easy to get to the supermarket and the beach is in easy walking distance .
When you stay here its not far to walk to near by towns with all the shops and noise, just very easy to get to everything

Beyond expectations

We thought we would have a room in the 3 star part of the hotel. But we were placed in de 4* part. We had free wifi, very big room even bigger balconies and the last day we discovered that we actually had 2 huge balconies:) the centre of Praia de rocha is a few minutes walking. Enough parking space so no complaints at all!

Nothing To cry home about

The 5 day stay here was fine. Nothing special. The room was clean when I first got there.

Was shocked to learn (after some nosing around) there was ample space for a restaurant downstairs but it is closed up and looks like like hasn't been used for a while. It would have been nice to not have to use the hotel beside us for food and drinks .

We really enjoyed it!!

Me and mum stayed here in September 2013 and we had a great time. The apartment was clean, tidy and roomy and for the price excellent value. we went self catering and found the kitchen equipment adequate. Only a short walk to the beach and regular buses to nearby villages. We will certainly return .

Had far worse holidays

We stayed for a week in October, out of season and it proved to be a great time to go if like us, you were just after a peaceful break to recharge the batteries. There were very few people around and we had both pools to ourselves for most of the time - both of which were perfectly clean and warm, and one of had a bar and terrace with very pleasant staff. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was adequate and comfortable with all amenities you would expect, hot showers, kitchen with fridge, toaster, kettle, TV with English channels and a great long balcony for breakfasts. The apartment was cleaned every day it seemed although we never saw the cleaners who made themselves scarce. Hotel staff were polite and amenable. The hotel itself is set only a slight way back from the coast (5 min walk to nearest beach) and about 20 mins from Praia Da Rocha with its numerable restaurants (all of which we sampled we thought were very good) It is in a rather odd position surrounded by what appears to be a fenced off disused quarry, or maybe just land awaiting development, but that shouldn't put anyone off because its irrelevent really.
We can't rate the beaches here highly enough, with crystal waters and golden sand, when the tide is out you can walk to Praia Da Rocha along the beach and all the way to the lighthouses at the start of the Portmaio inlet, a good couple of miles I would say. There are plenty of caves and coves to explore along this coast. We were very lucky considering the time of year because the temperature was high 80's Farenheit every day and consequently we spent most of our time on the beach and in the sea. There is a good coast walk along the cliffs to the next resort, Alvor, which has a very quaint fishing village centre and another very long beach.
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our week here and would come again in a heartbeat, it was made even more enjoyable by the Portugese we had the pleasure of speaking to, who exuded a warmth I have rarely experienced in other parts of Europe. The holiday was also very inexpensive.
