Inn with a mid century retro feel

I had to put family up close to my house and chose Island Sun because of its good location and the Blu Bistro restaurant nextdoor. My family loved it! Great pool, nice room and the Blu Bistro is very good!

I booked this place as an overnight stop from new orleans to miami. I was really skeptical to begin with but i needed something so went ahead and booked. When i first arrived i was quite surprised at how clean it was. Towels, linens, floors and kitchenette was all clean. Kitchenette had paper towels too which was a nice bonus. The bedrooms are all based around the pool in the middle and the bedroom door leading out to the pool was closed but unlocked when i checked it, wasn't too happy with that. I initially checked the bathroom and all seemed fine to begin with. It was late when i arrived and headed or for dinner not long after arriving since most places sit at 9pm and it was fast approaching that time. Came back went to bed, got up in the morning went to have a bath and found what I'm fairly sure was some kind of roach in the bath tub. I killed it but needless to say i didn't wash after that. Thinking about it still makes my skin crawl. When i showed the photo to the woman at reception the only response was I'm really sorry about that. I'm not impressed with the response or the event. I realise it's a smallish roadside motel & i don't expect the Ritz but i paying $65 plus tax for a room with unusable bathroom facilities is not something I'm happy about. It's such a shame too because otherwise the place was clean.

Owners/staff are amazing, place is very clean and all rooms face the pool and courtyard. The beds are new and fantastic! Yes, there is some wear on some of the kitchen cabinets, etc. but if you want fancy, you can pay 5 times or more as much a night. We loved this place and will be back!!!

We stay here every time we come to Venice this place is very clean the staff is very friendly and will go out of their way to help you definitely worth the money and close to everything highly recommended

Looks deceiving from the outside. Very nice place to stay, friendly staff and inviting pool and court yard. Room was clean and nice , but could of used a good floor cleaning. But over all would stay here again and bring my own pillows due to the one's here are hard.
