Beautiful, spacious house
packedandready2goon 12/03/2017 20:14We rented townhouse Q1 on VRBO. It has 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Like all the units in The Islands it is very spacious. The master bedroom has a fantastic en suite bathroom with lots of counter space,and a separate shower, tub and wc. The 2 bedrooms each have their own lanai. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with pots, pans and every kind of cooking device you might need. The management was very accessible and accommodating.
The development has its own pool which was never busy. It is a 10-15 minute walk to the beach or a 5 minute (or less) drive. Island guests can park in the Mauna Kea Beach Club private parking lot. This is one of the best snorkeling beaches on the Big Island. The Shops at Mauna Lani are a 15 minute walk or a 3 minute drive. There are some good restaurants and a surprisingly good grocery store. While Foodland is about one third the size of a mainland grocery store it has a good selection of products along with a deli counter, a fish counter and a wine store. Wifi did not work well in our house.
Perfect family vacation spot
EJS722on 10/09/2016 19:01This was our 2nd time staying at The Islands of Mauna Lani for our family vacations. We loved it so much the first time that we brought more family with us this time and rented an extra house. It was absolutely perfect!!! Everyone had their own space and we saved a ton of money renting these beautiful houses vs. having to book individual hotel rooms. Not to mention the money we saved by cooking 90% of our meals instead of eating out. Although the kitchen in our unit could use some updating, everything worked fine and we were able to make breakfast and lunch every day of our trip without any issues. So really, that's just a personal preference and not a flaw of the resort. We would, and will, definitely stay at this resort on our next visit to the island.

Kathy Don 08/07/2016 21:30Great family place to stay. Pool across the street from the condo but the private beach was a mile or so. Excellent snorkeling at the private beach and black sands beach. Housekeeping every day was so nice to have! Shopping on property was pricey. Shopping in Kona more reasonable but a 25 mile drive.
Much better than a hotel

The kitchen had all the tools we needed and even was supplied with condiments for our use, which is a hugs bonus as one does not need to go and buy sugar salt & pepper etc. The pool areas was wonderful as were the grounds. Shops and beaches were all around along with great places to walk.....

Loved the Islands at Mauna Lani
travelthroughmyeyeson 10/03/2015 14:32Why pay the same price for a hotel room with 400 sq ft when you can get 1800 sq ft or more for the price of a small overused hotel room. These units are spacious and very well appointed and super clean.If you are a golfer this is paradise.This property is close to everything you need including the beach just seconds away. I have been to Hawaii numerous times and this was our best stay.Dont miss a lunch at the Beach Club which is part of the Islands.
