We have visited here several times! This was a fun weekend full of great memories. Will return again! Beach was clean. Pools were nice! Pizza at Hudson Grill was good. Weather was perfect! I cannot wait to return!

Wild Dunes June 2017

Great location on the beach. Close to Charleston. We stayed in Village Gardens with 4 teenagers and the accommodations were great. Pavilion pool had fun music at night so it is a great place to go hang out after you get back from dinner.

Wild Dunes warning!

Make sure you know where you are staying. We had stayed at wild dunes a few years ago in their main resort area. The room was beautiful The resort was very nice. We booked a vacation in the summer to stay there in the same type of three bedroom condo. When we arrived we were placed in a condo that was not in the resort area it was down the street we had to drive to the beach every single day. The condo was in poor condition nothing works right, there were ants and spiders everywhere we called multiple times to have things fixed and people weren't sent out. I would make sure you know where your room is before you stay with them.

Pricey Accomodations but great Service

We stayed at a condo on Racquet Club. The prices overall at the resort seemed inflated for the quality of product. The employees there were great and very helpful but otherwise the resort could use some renovations. The pools are all too small given the size of the resort. The beach is very small during high tide. If possible, it would make sense to expand the beach back if limitations permit. Given the proximity to places like Mt Pleasant and Charleston, we may come again but it will not be primarily because of this resort.

Our second stay was better than our last.

This was our second visit to Wild Dunes. If you scan my reviews, you'll note my last review was three stars. This year, I've upgraded to four stars. Why? A few reasons...

1. We discovered a nicer villa that was a little further away from the Grand Pavilion area, but still waterfront with stunning views. We rented bikes from the resort (highly recommend!) so riding the short distance to and from the home was not a problem at all. The home we previously rented in Grand Pavilion area needed some TLC. You can request a home only slightly further down the road (maybe a three minute bike ride, also walk-able) and it can make a huge difference. The house was large and very well appointed. We were six guests total, three kids and three adults. Everyone had their own room, plus we had washer/dryer. This year, we skipped the grocery delivery service and instead took an Uber to Whole Foods where we purchased a week's worth of groceries, some delicious prepared meals - and wine! Harris Teeter is another local supermarket which is much closer than Whole Foods.

2. We took advantage of more resort amenities. Our kids played in the playground behind the tennis courts while mommy and daddy attended a clinic. We have friends who live in the area so local sitters were available to us. The bikes were a huge hit! Also, we attended a resort-sponsored kids' party near Hudsons Market. Kids' movie night was another great event. Of course, roasting s'mores is fun as well.

3. Uber was widely available for dinner off campus. Great for Mommy/Daddy date night. Charleston has an amazing culinary scene.

4. Customer service. We had an absolutely lovely experience with Lana Venter, the reservations manager. Our flight was well past checkout time and we weren't sure what to do with three little ones while we waited around. She helped us find a place to store our bags and gave us temporary lodging for a small fee. She did quite a bit of maneuvering to assist us and she helped tremendously. She was pleasant, professional and did not hesitate to go out of her way. I cannot speak highly enough of her.

And now for a con...

The quality of the food served poolside at Grand Pavilion area (and other pool areas) could still use improvement. I stand by my last review in this regard. Poolside food is not great, and that's being generous. Unless you're ordering something that's impossible to mess up (chips and salsa, hummus platter, French fries), I would say skip it. The burger was inedible. Drinks at the bar are fine though! ;)

Overall, a fantastic family vacation as long as you know the ropes before your visit. We will be back again next year.
