Caters for all groups.
K2K62on 07/08/2017 13:14This hotel meets the needs of many visitors to the area. Hikers, families and coaches are welcome. It is a large hotel and the restaurant caters well for all groups. We only stayed for one night on route between Skye and Glasgow. This hotel is probably better suited to those staying longer but there wasn't a lot of availability anywhere else. The hotel is a bit worn and in need of a lift but it still has good things going for it.
Spacious comfortable rooms in a lovely setting!
barbintorontoon 03/08/2017 20:21This was a last minute booking for us and we really lucked out! We had a large room with a king sized bed and a lovely view of the loch. It was quiet and comfortable. We ate dinner and breakfast in the dining room, both of which were very good. There was a pool too, but we didn't have suits with us. Children's activities are available, although we had no use of them either. Service staff, including at the front desk, were friendly and helpful.
Incredible views from the breakfast room
flocketton 03/08/2017 09:39The room and bathroom was clean and had everything we needed. The bed was massive - two singles together with a huge duvet - and we both slept very comfortably. The view from the bedroom wasn't great (we had booked very late) but the views from the breakfast room were amazing. The staff on arrival and I the breakfast room were polite and courteous. The breakfast itself was delicious with many local delicacies and a lot of options for everyone.
Lovely Evening Meal with a Beautiful Backdrop
Jon Bon 02/08/2017 21:04We dropped into the restaurant for an evening meal. Vegan wife had rung ahead to see if the chef would do something appropriate, which he did, much to the delight of wife and vegan son.
The staff were attentive and friendly, despite it being a busy evening. The food was excellent - the vegan vegetable casserole (seasonal vegetables in a rich tomato sauce), although sounding unassuming, was colorful, tasty and kept the palate interested; the a la carte burger (for heathen father) was definitely well above average. Fruit salad desert was a cleverly composed medley of summer fruits and the cheese board was a delightful tour of local offerings.
All in all a lovely meal and at not an unreasonable price.
Barely concealed hostility
drceiton 31/07/2017 22:46We stopped here for an evening meal whilst travelling north; we live in the islands and pass often, although we had never stopped here before.
The hotel was busy, but we were able to book a table for two about 45 minutes after we arrived. We were asked to wait in the lounge area for 45 minutes, which we did, and we then re-presented ourselves to the restaurant. Once again we were asked to wait. After another 15 minutes a member of staff seated us, and seemed annoyed that we were late!
The theme continued; we struggled to attract the attention of staff, and it took us nearly two hours from being seated to be served a two-course meal, by staff who scarcely spoke to us or looked us in the eye. The food was good value, but the whole meal was overshadowed by the barely concealed hostility of the staff. No-one seemed to have been allocated to serve us, and resentment was the flavour that permeated everything.
I will never stop here again.
